ORB Breakout Targets | AlphaScriptORB Breakout Targets combines a session opening range with the key levels traders already watch , then answers the question most breakout tools leave open: broken — toward what? When the range breaks, the nearest significant level beyond the break is automatically identified and highlighted as the measured target. A breakout with a destination, not just an arrow.
🧠 Concept
The opening range of a session concentrates the first auction of the day; its break signals initiative in one direction. But a break alone says nothing about follow-through — price tends to travel between reference levels, and the natural magnet after a breakout is the nearest untested level in the breakout direction: the prior day's high, an overnight session extreme, the Monday range. Finding that level by eye, every session, across a dozen candidates, is exactly the work this tool removes. The range gives you the trigger; the key level map gives you the objective.
🔍 What it does
Builds the opening range from the first N minutes (default 30) of your chosen session — New York, London, or Asia — and draws it as a live box whose fill reflects the current state: bullish coloring while price holds above the range midpoint, bearish below it, updating in real time so the box itself reads as a bias gauge at a glance. On a confirmed breakout, marks the break on the chart and highlights the nearest enabled key level beyond the range as the target, in its own color with a dedicated label.
Key levels available as target candidates and chart structure:

Levels sharing the same price within your Merge Threshold collapse into one line with a combined label, so the target reads as a single clean zone even when multiple references agree on it.
⚙️ How it works
A breakout is confirmed only on a full bar close beyond the range — wicks through the boundary don't count, and nothing repaints intrabar. Detection runs only during the parent session of your selected opening range, so overnight drift through yesterday's levels never produces a false signal.
On a bullish break, the target is the first enabled level above the range high; on a bearish break, the first enabled level below the range low.
Levels sitting inside the range are never selected. The target is dynamic: enable or disable level groups and it recalculates to the nearest qualifying level — your level settings are your target settings.
All higher-timeframe and session values are retrieved with non-repainting historical requests. What a historical bar shows is what you would have seen live.
📈 How to use it
The default view is built for intraday breakout trading: previous day high/low, Asia and London session extremes, and the Monday range as target candidates, with the New York 30-minute opening range.
Fewer enabled levels means more meaningful targets — add Weekly or Monthly levels only if you want swing-distance objectives, and expect targets to sit farther away when you do.
The box color gives a quick bias read before and after the break: sustained bullish fill with price pressing the range high often precedes the upside break, and a break that flips the box back against you is an early warning the move is failing.
Three alerts are included: bullish breakout, bearish breakout, and target reached — each fires once per session, per direction. Recommended alert setting: "Once per bar close." PulseWire shows a standard notice on alerts from close-confirmed scripts; that is expected behavior and the tradeoff for signals that don't repaint.
Session times, range duration (1–120 minutes), colors, line styles, and every level group are independently configurable.

Break validation — 4 modes
Choose how a level is considered "broken":
Close — close beyond the swing level (cleanest, default).
High/Low (wick) — wick beyond the level (most aggressive).
Close beyond buffer (ticks) — close beyond level ± N × mintick.
Close beyond buffer (%) — close beyond level ± X%.
Buffer fields appear conditionally so you can tune the strictness of structure breaks per instrument (forex, indices, crypto, etc.).
Structure classification — CHoCH / MSS / BOS
Trend state is tracked internally (Bullish, Bearish, Neutral). Every confirmed break is then classified:
CHoCH — first break that reverses the trend (bullish CHoCH on a close above the last swing high while bearish; bearish CHoCH on a close below the last swing low while bullish), or the very first break when the trend is still neutral. CHoCH flips the trend and starts a fresh leg.
MSS — first qualifying break in the direction of the new trend after CHoCH, per the MSS definition setting:
First break after CHoCH — any first break in trend direction = MSS, then BOS.
First break >= pre-CHoCH level — MSS only when the broken swing is at or beyond the swing level that existed before the CHoCH. Stricter — protects against premature MSS calls.
HL + >= pre-CHoCH (legacy) — same as above, plus a confirming HL (bull) / LH (bear) is required after CHoCH before MSS can fire.
BOS — every subsequent break in the trend direction after MSS — until the opposite CHoCH occurs and the cycle restarts.
This rule set keeps only one MSS per trend leg, with everything before it being CHoCH and everything after being BOS — exactly how SMC traders read it.
Pre-CHoCH levels (transparent reasoning)
When CHoCH fires, the script captures the swing-high / swing-low that existed before the trend flip (pre_choch_swing_high / pre_choch_swing_low). These are used by the stricter MSS modes and shown in the debug rows of the info table, so you can verify exactly why a break was classified as MSS or BOS.
Last broken swing tracking
For every confirmed break the indicator stores:
lastBreakSwingBarIndex — the bar where the broken swing originally formed (its ID).
lastBreakSwingPrice — the level that was broken.
lastBreakClassification — CHoCH / MSS / BOS.
lastBreakDirection — above swing high / below swing low.

Drawing budget (FIFO)
The indicator caps the number of CHoCH / MSS / BOS line + label pairs at Max CHoCH/MSS/BOS lines + labels (default 400, max ~80% of PulseWire's 500 limit). Older drawings are removed first (FIFO), so you never hit the line cap on long histories.

Two ready-to-use alert conditions:

A bullish pivot is formed when the center candle makes the lowest low relative to the 2 candles on each side.
A bearish pivot is formed when the center candle makes the highest high relative to the 2 candles on each side.
This creates the V-shape or inverted V-shape structure that often marks a true swing.
2-Candle Reversal
This is the faster swing model.
A bullish 2-candle swing looks for a strong rejection wick followed by a stronger confirmation candle.
A bearish 2-candle swing does the opposite.
This can help catch earlier reversals before a full 5-candle pivot is confirmed.
Optional sweep filter
You can also require the swing to sweep a prior pivot, which can help remove weaker starts and focus on more meaningful liquidity grabs.

After a valid swing start, price must show displacement.
This is measured using ATR-based expansion, so the indicator only accepts moves that have enough strength to suggest real momentum rather than drift.
If the move does not show enough displacement, the setup is ignored.
4) Fair Value Gap and Inverse Fair Value Gap logic
This indicator focuses only on:

A standard Fair Value Gap is created when price leaves an imbalance between candles.
IFVG
An Inverse Fair Value Gap is formed when a previously respected FVG is invalidated and flips role:

This lets the indicator work with both fresh imbalances and flipped imbalance zones.
5) Minimum zone size filter
The indicator lets you define the minimum size of the FVG / IFVG in ticks.

If the FVG or IFVG is too small, the setup is ignored.

6) Entry mode
You can choose between two entry models:
Gap Close

Retest

Per-Slot Logic: Each grid level is an independent slot tracked by a boolean ownership flag. When bar close moves price down through an empty slot's level, the indicator marks a virtual long opened at that level for one slot's worth of capital (Investment / N) and dispatches its buy webhook. When bar close moves price up through the level immediately above an owned slot, that slot is closed, the round-trip profit between the two adjacent levels is realized, and the close webhook fires.

🔷 Considerations Before Using the Indicator:
Market Selection & Range Validity: Grid tools are most profitable in range-bound, mean-reverting markets. On strong directional trends below the configured Low, slots will keep loading as price falls and won't close until price reverses. The default High/Low (0.5795 / 0.3134) was set against TWT's recent observed range; update both whenever the regime changes.
Loaded-Grid Dynamic: When TWT sits in the lower half of the range, most slots are bought and waiting — the bulk of the value shows up as Open PnL rather than Realized PnL. This is normal grid behavior: realized profit only accrues as slots complete their round-trips. On the companion strategy's reference window the net closed profit was thin (+0.96%) for exactly this reason — nearly all levels were loaded at the end of the sample.
Aggregate Drawdown: Per-slot reference risk is moderate (~1.6% of equity), but if price collapses below the Low bound, aggregate unrealized loss can grow further — the companion strategy's backtest reached a 20.03% maximum equity drawdown, driven by the fully-loaded-grid dynamic. Match the indicator's per-slot allocation and Investment to your bot's configuration to keep the avg-entry and PnL display honest.
No Stop Loss: There is no exit signal on adverse moves below the lowest grid level. Slots whose entry sits above current market simply wait until price comes back. Risk is structurally capped by the bounded per-slot allocation; if a hard exchange-side stop is required, configure it on the bot directly.
Cross Detection Granularity: Slot fills and closes are evaluated on bar close. A bar that spikes through a level and returns within the same bar may be missed by design — this matches realistic polling behavior and avoids over-signaling on intra-bar wicks.
Live vs Historical State: The virtual grid state is rebuilt from chart history each time the indicator is recompiled. If the indicator is added mid-deployment or the live bot diverges from the signal stream (manual interventions, partial fills), the indicator state may not match the live bot. Toggle the indicator off and on to reset.
Backtesting Note: This is an indicator, not a strategy. There is no built-in P&L tester — but the live realized-profit counter in the status table gives a running approximation. For full metrics over the reference ~14-month sample (1,227 closed trades, 55.09% win rate, 20.03% max drawdown, profit factor 0.971, +0.96% net closed return over May 1, 2025 – July 1, 2026), use the companion strategy version on identical parameters. Note that at the end of that window nearly all grid levels are loaded with open slots, so a large share of the position value is unrealized and not reflected in the closed-trade profit factor.
🔷 How to Use It:
🔸 Add the indicator to a 15m TWT / USDT chart.
🔸 Set the High and Low bounds to a range you expect TWT to respect, pick Geometric (default, recommended) or Arithmetic spacing, and set Grid Levels (7–200) and Total Investment to match your bot's configuration (the indicator's avg-entry and PnL display becomes meaningful when virtual sizing matches real sizing).
🔸 In the DCA Bot Webhook group, paste the Bot ID, Email Token, and Pair (QUOTE_BASE format, e.g., USDT_TWT).
🔸 Create an alert on the indicator with "Any alert() function call". Paste the DCA Bot's webhook URL into the alert's Webhook field. The indicator will emit a dedicated JSON payload for every grid-level buy and grid-level close, tagged with the slot index — formatted for direct DCA Bot consumption.

High Price: Top of the grid. The highest level a slot can be created from.
Low Price: Bottom of the grid. The lowest level a slot can be created from.
Grid Levels: Number of price levels between High and Low (default 62, range 7–200).
Spacing Mode: Geometric (constant percent step) or Arithmetic (constant absolute step).
Total Investment (USDT): Total virtual capital allocated across all slots. Per-slot size = Investment / Grid Levels.
DCA Bot Webhook: Bot ID, Email Token, and Pair fields injected into every alert payload.
Visualization: Toggle grid lines, range box, HIGH/LOW labels, avg entry plot, fill labels, signal triangles, status table (shows range, levels, owned slots, avg entry, deployed capital, open PnL, and cumulative realized net profit).
Brand Watermark: Configurable text, position, size, and transparency.
