AlphaVault - Regime FilterTwo long-term trend filters and one rule: price above both is a bull regime, below both is
a bear regime, anything in between is neutral. It plots the filters, tints the background
by state, marks each change, and shows how long the current state has held.
NO REPAINTING. Both filters are read from the previous COMPLETED daily and weekly bar
(lookahead_off plus a one-bar offset), so the regime shown for a closed bar never changes
afterwards. This is worth verifying yourself on any indicator you did not write: scroll
back, note the state on an old bar, reload the chart, and check it is the same.
What it is for: deciding whether to be doing anything at all. Most trend systems lose the
majority of their money trying to trade against a long-term downtrend, and a neutral state
is genuinely common — roughly a fifth of all bars on BTC since 2018. Treating "no clear
regime" as a valid answer rather than a gap to be filled is most of the value here.
What it is not: an entry signal. It tells you which direction is permitted, not when to
act, and it will keep you out of some large moves that begin before the filters confirm.
It is deliberately slow. On BTC it changes state a handful of times a year.
Defaults are a 200-period SMA on daily closes and a 20-period EMA on weekly closes. Both
lengths are configurable, though the defaults are the ones worth arguing about — a filter
you re-tune until it looks good on the chart in front of you has stopped being a filter.
Alerts fire on a turn to bull, a turn to bear, or any change. Regime changes are rare by
construction; an alert that fires constantly is one you learn to ignore.

Multi-Timeframe Moving AveragesMulti-Timeframe Moving Averages (MTF MAs) is an all-in-one moving-average overlay with 16 independently configurable slots: eight calculated on the chart timeframe and eight calculated on user-selected timeframes. It combines local and higher-timeframe structure without requiring multiple indicators or repeated chart changes. Every line can be shown or hidden and assigned its own length, calculation type, and color.
The higher-timeframe averages are calculated inside their requested timeframe. For example, a 20-period one-hour EMA on a five-minute chart is calculated from 20 one-hour observations, not from 20 five-minute observations or by scaling an existing chart-timeframe EMA. This preserves the mathematical meaning of the selected length and timeframe.
Its distinctive feature is the MTF display. Completed intervals show finalized MA levels, while the developing interval is rendered as one horizontal line that grows across the interval and adjusts to the current MTF value. This keeps the active higher-timeframe level clear instead of leaving behind a noisy trail of provisional updates.
MOVING-AVERAGE TYPES
Every chart and MTF slot supports nine calculation types:
- SMA uses equal weighting; EMA and RMA use recursive weighting that emphasizes recent observations.
- WMA applies linear weighting, while HMA combines weighted averages for greater responsiveness.
- VWMA weights price by volume, and LSMA returns the endpoint of a least-squares regression line.
- DEMA and TEMA combine multiple EMA stages to reduce conventional EMA lag.
Each method processes the selected source over the selected length. The methods differ in weighting, smoothness, responsiveness, and potential overshoot; none is inherently best for every instrument or market condition.
HOW THE MTF DISPLAY WORKS
Suppose a one-hour EMA is displayed on a five-minute chart. The value changes while the hour is still forming. Connecting every five-minute snapshot can produce a noisy path that obscures the level currently in effect.
MTF MA uses a two-layer rendering method:
- Completed intervals display the finalized higher-timeframe MA value across the chart bars belonging to that interval.
- The developing interval uses the current, unconfirmed MTF value to draw one horizontal segment from the beginning of the interval to the latest bar.
As new chart bars arrive, the live segment extends horizontally and relocates vertically. Its previous provisional positions are not left behind as a separate path. When the higher-timeframe bar completes, its final level joins the historical display and a new live segment begins.
Optional labels identify each active MTF line by timeframe, length, type, and current value. Labels are placed four chart bars to the right for readability only; this horizontal placement does not represent future data.
WHY TWO MTF CALCULATIONS ARE USED
The script requests each MTF average twice. In simplified Pine Script, the calculation is:

Placing `ma_type()` inside `request.security()` is important: PulseWire evaluates the selected MA from bars in the requested timeframe. The script is not calculating an MA from lower-timeframe bars and then relabeling or rescaling it.
The historical request supplies the finalized value used to draw each completed interval. The realtime request supplies the developing value of the active interval. The script counts how many chart bars have elapsed inside that interval and recreates one horizontal line at the latest realtime value:

Both endpoints use the same price, so the live MTF display remains horizontal. Its left endpoint stays at the beginning of the higher-timeframe interval, its right endpoint advances with the chart, and the entire segment moves to the latest developing value. This historical/realtime separation provides a visually clean completed record without sacrificing a responsive current level. The same pattern is applied independently to all eight MTF slots.
HOW TO USE IT
Use Chart Timeframe MAs for averages calculated directly from the current chart bars and MTF MAs for averages calculated from another timeframe. Each slot may be enabled independently. Set its length, type, and color; MTF slots also have individual timeframes and labels. Source is shared by the chart MAs, while MTF Source is shared by the MTF group. Show MTF Historical Lines and Show MTF Labels are master display switches.
The intended use is to select MTF periods equal to or higher than the chart timeframe. This makes it possible, for example, to monitor a one-hour, four-hour, and daily moving-average structure while executing from a lower-timeframe chart.
LIMITATIONS AND REPAINTING
Moving averages are descriptive transformations of past and developing price or volume data. They are not support or resistance guarantees, forecasts, trade signals, or evidence that price must react when a line is reached.
The active horizontal MTF segment is calculated from an unconfirmed higher-timeframe bar. It intentionally moves as that bar develops, and its final value may differ from levels displayed earlier in the interval. The indicator does not preserve that sequence of provisional live values.
Historical MTF segments are retrospective by design. To display a completed higher-timeframe level across its full interval, the script uses lookahead when mapping the finalized value onto the interval's lower-timeframe bars. The historical segment therefore shows where the final level belongs visually, not the sequence of values that was available while that interval developed. Historical price contacts, crosses, or apparent reactions must not be treated as time-causal signals or used for backtesting.
Selecting an MTF period below the chart timeframe returns only limited intrabar information and is not the intended use of this indicator. Results also depend on the chart's source data, session, and candle type. Standard candles are recommended when comparing moving-average values with actual traded prices.

### What it is
A **trend + momentum fusion** indicator. Instead of watching three separate tools, it folds them into one signal:
1. **SMA+EMA blend** — your 8 moving averages (4 EMAs + 4 SMAs at 9/21/80/200) are merged into one combined line, then smoothed into its own SMA and EMA. This is the **trend** backbone.
2. **MACD histogram** — the **momentum** of the trend (is it accelerating or fading).

The whole point is **confluence** — the signal only commits to green or red strongly when trend, momentum, and RSI **agree**. When they disagree, they partially cancel and it sits neutral. That agreement-filter is what reduces false signals versus reading any one indicator alone.
### How to use it
**The green/red flip is the primary signal:**
- **Red → green** = bullish shift (trend + momentum turning up together). Look for **long** setups.
- **Green → red** = bearish shift. Look for **exits or shorts**.

The chart-side MTF RSI Stack Trend is where the table becomes more than just a dashboard.
Each enabled timeframe row contributes to a full-stack RSI bias score using four relationships:

When the stack leans bearish, it can project above price like a resistance-style trail. When the stack is mixed or transitioning, the trail can fall back into a neutral state. That gives the chart one clean read of the broader RSI stack instead of forcing the user to mentally combine every row in the table.
The MTF Stack ATR Envelope expands that idea into a broader volatility zone. The envelope is built around the Stack Trend system and can reference the chart Stack Trend, a higher-timeframe Stack Trend, or the midpoint between both. This creates a volatility-adjusted zone around the broader RSI stack context.
The practical use is to help answer questions like:

➡️ Is price trading inside the broader stack envelope?

The MTF Stack Bias Trend Strip gives another view of the same engine. Instead of projecting the stack onto price, the strip shows the raw MTF Stack Bias as a compact gradient along the bottom of the chart.
This makes it easier to see when the broader stack is:

The color behavior is intentionally visual. Stronger bullish readings can push toward yellow/orange, stronger bearish readings can push toward purple/extreme purple, and mixed readings stay closer to neutral.
The optional RSI Trend Candle Overlay brings the RSI color engine directly onto the main chart. Price candles still keep normal OHLC structure, but their body, wick, and border colors can reflect the current chart-timeframe RSI state. This makes it easier to see RSI strength, weakness, stretch, or neutrality without constantly checking a separate pane.
The Bull/Bear markers add a more localized pressure layer. These markers use a Price Action-style adaptive overbought/oversold engine built from a short Wilder-style high/low channel and adaptive trigger levels. They can be shown as raw pressure markers or filtered so bullish markers only appear during bullish stack regimes and bearish markers only appear during bearish stack regimes.
A practical way to read the script:

It takes RSI behavior across multiple timeframes and turns it into a connected chart-side framework: table detail, stack bias, trail behavior, volatility zones, candle context, trend strip pressure, and localized markers. While this script is not meant to be a standalone buy/sell signal machine, it certainly has the necessary components and features to be just that once you learn its behavior over multiple timeframes. Used alongside oscillator, pressure, pivot-structure, and divergence tools, this script can also serve as a higher-level RSI alignment dashboard. What I’m watching:
• Price reclaiming the purple Stack Trend
• Purple Stack Trend turning back into support
• Yellow Stack Trend / envelope behavior improving underneath price
• Blue HTF Stack Trend flattening or moving below price
• Price holding above the prior local structure zone
Until that happens, rallies into the purple/blue Stack Trend area are still tests of resistance, not confirmed bullish structure.

This is the progression we wanted to see from the prior setup. Earlier, price was still below both the chart Stack Trend and the HTF Stack Trend, so the bullish structure was only an expectation — not confirmation yet. Now price has started to work back into the Stack Trend zone. The short-term RSI rows are strengthening, the bottom Stack Bias strip is shifting back into warmer pressure, and price is pushing into the same area that previously needed to be reclaimed.
The key improvement:
Price is no longer simply fading below the Stack Trend structure. It is actively testing the trail/envelope area from underneath and beginning to show the early signs of a bullish reclaim attempt.
What still matters next:
Price needs to hold above the faster chart-side Stack Trend and continue working toward the blue HTF Stack Trend. If that area flips from resistance into support, the bullish structure becomes much cleaner.
Until then, this is a bullish attempt in progress — stronger than the prior chart, but still needing confirmation above the broader HTF Stack Trend zone.

amongst experienced investors and traders. This indicator interprets
that positioning across 16 configurations with a 7-tier color gradient,
so you see structural health at a glance. "Oh, it's bouncing on the
50dma right now, there may be a set-up in play..."
POSITIONAL CONTEXT vs STATIC MA OVERLAY
Static overlays show every MA with no interpretation of what the
positioning means. This indicator color-codes 16 above/below
configurations weighted by MA significance (200d and 10w are
heavyweights), surfaces bounce/reject events ranked by importance,
and shows % distance to each curve so you know exactly how much of a
move is needed for price to converge.
- Events fire independently of display toggles; a hidden 200d SMA
that price just bounced off still shows "Bouncing 200d" in the
dashboard.
- 7-tier positioning gradient weighted by MA significance (200d and
10w are heavyweights) shows structural health in one glance.

HOW IT WORKS
Higher timeframe MAs are pulled via request.security and rendered as
polylines for smooth display on any chart timeframe. The proximity check
runs on every bar: if the distance between price and a given MA exceeds
the threshold %, the polyline is not drawn. When price approaches, the
line appears. Alerts fire independently of display toggles.
DASHBOARD
Two-row dynamic dashboard that updates every bar.
- Row 1 (positioning): which MAs price is above or below, grouped with
"&" separators. The Weekly 10 SMA is separated as the anchor by a
pipe. 7-tier color gradient based on how many of the four key MAs
(50d, 100d, 200d, 10w) price is above, with heavyweight distinction
(200d and 10w carry more weight than 50d/100d): bright green (all
four), green (3/4 with both heavyweights), dark green (3/4 missing a
heavyweight), yellow (2/4), dark red (1/4 with a heavyweight), red
(1/4 only lightweight), bright red (none)
- Row 2 (events): up to 3 simultaneous events, most significant MA first
(w10 → d200 → d100 → d50 → 4h200). Bouncing (support holding),
rejecting (resistance holding), XO (crossover), XU (crossunder). Color
intensity uses a 2D significance matrix: MA weight x event type.
Brightgreen for a w10 bounce; yellow for a d200 cross; darkgreen for
idle above d50. Dark gray when idle
- Runs independently of display toggles; events fire for all MAs even if
the line is hidden by the proximity filter
DEFAULT CONFIGURATION
Weekly 10 SMA (white), Daily 50 EMA (yellow), and Daily 200 SMA (purple)
are on by default. Proximity filter on at 5%. These three levels are the
most commonly watched institutional reference points.

2. Trend Confirmation Logic
The relationship between moving averages helps define market conditions:
- When shorter-term averages are above longer-term averages → Uptrend
- When shorter-term averages fall below longer-term averages → Downtrend
- When averages compress or move sideways → Consolidation / indecision
A key concept:
- When the 50 EMA is above the 150 SMA, the market is considered in a healthy uptrend
- When the 50 EMA falls below the 150 SMA, it signals a potential shift to a bearish environment
This provides a clear, rules-based way to stay aligned with the dominant trend.
3. Entry & Pullback Context
Trends do not move in straight lines—they move in waves. Price will naturally pull back toward moving averages during trends.
These areas can act as:
