W.D. Gann never traded a reversal bar in isolation — a swing high/low break, key reversal, or outside bar was a trigger, not a signal on its own. He wanted it lining up with the bigger picture: was the move overextended, was volume backing it, was it a big enough bar to matter. Most free "Gann reversal" scripts on PulseWire just plot the raw bar pattern and stop there — every swing break gets a triangle, whether it's a meaningful turn or noise. This indicator keeps the classic pattern detection but scores each one against the context Gann actually cared about, so you can see how much is lining up, not just that a shape appeared.
How this works
Pattern detection — pick one of three classic reversal triggers: Swing (price closes beyond the recent N-bar high/low), Key Reversal (new extreme that closes back through the prior close), or Outside Bar (engulfs the prior range and closes in the reversal direction).
Confluence scoring — every raw pattern is checked against up to five independent factors:
Range (ATR) — was the bar itself big enough to matter, or just noise?
Volume — did participation back the move?
Momentum (RSI) — was the market actually stretched, or was this a mid-range wiggle?
Trend (EMA) — is this a pullback with the trend, or a potential trend change against it? (shown, not scored against you)
Hour-ruler (optional, off by default) — a traditional Chaldean planetary-hour tag. Descriptive only, not a validated filter — treat it as a curiosity layered on top of the technical factors, not evidence on its own.
Cooldown — a minimum bar gap between signals stops the same swing from re-triggering repeatedly.
Everything commits on bar close only. Nothing here repaints or changes after the fact.
How to use it
Start with the defaults. Watch how the confluence score (shown next to each signal and in the status table) moves with the setups you'd have taken anyway.
Raise "Minimum confluence score to show signal" to hide everything below your conviction threshold — e.g. set it to 3 to only see signals where 3+ factors agree.
Use the level line each signal draws as a reference point for how price behaved on the next visit, not as a target.
This is a confluence aid, meant to sit alongside your own read of the chart and risk management — not a standalone entry/exit system.
Settings
Logic — reversal method, swing length, close vs. wick confirmation, minimum bars between signals.
Confluence — independently toggle ATR/Volume/RSI/Trend, tune each threshold, and set the minimum score required to show a signal.
Astro (optional) — off by default; enables the hour-ruler tag and lets you set a location for the sunrise/sunset calc it depends on.
Display — swing band, signal level lines, background highlight, confluence score label, status table (with position control), colors, and line styling.

A single technical-bias reading built from 22 of the most widely-charted tools on the platform, 10 oscillators and 12 moving averages condensed into one consensus percentage, a daily persistent Buy/Sell phase, and one fully transparent trade rule.
## Why this exists
I don't personally trade off technical indicators — I think of them mainly as a liquidity layer the market uses, not a forecasting tool. But in a much larger strategy I run privately (4,000+ lines), I tested using a broad technical-consensus reading as a confirmation filter. It didn't add what I wanted there, so I pulled it out.
What was left, though, was a question worth testing on its own: does the crowd's aggregate technical bias — built from the same handful of indicators almost everyone charts with — actually move *with* price, *against* it, or not at all?
My own prior going in is that it's inverse: that a unanimous, textbook-standard reading looks more like a map of where liquidity (stops, obvious entries) is sitting than a map of where price is actually going. This script is that test, built as its own standalone strategy and released openly so anyone can run the same experiment on their own terms. A "Contrarian Mode" exists in the settings for exactly this purpose. The honest answer is probably regime-dependent rather than a fixed sign — trend-following logic (which is most of what's under the hood here) has real, well-documented edge in sustained trends, and only likely loses to the contrarian read in choppier conditions.
## How it works
- **22 inputs, one vote each.** RSI(14), Stochastic(14,3,3), CCI(20), MACD(12,26,9), Awesome Oscillator, Momentum(10), Williams %R(14), Stochastic RSI(3,3,14,14), Ultimate Oscillator, and Bull/Bear Power, plus EMA and SMA at 10/20/50/100/200, VWMA(20), and HMA(9). Each casts **+1 (Buy)**, **-1 (Sell)**, or **0 (Neutral)** using the same conventional thresholds you'd find in most platforms' built-in "Technicals" ratings — nothing exotic or curve-fit.
-**Votes are tallied** into Buy / Sell / Neutral totals across whichever indicators you leave switched on (every one is individually toggleable).
- **Consensus % is the dominant side's share of *all* enabled indicators — including the neutral ones.** A "70% consensus" reading means 70% of everything you've switched on agrees, not 70% of the indicators that took a side. This matters: a busy, trending market with few neutral readings reaches a high consensus % more easily than a quiet one, even at the same buy-to-sell ratio.
- That percentage maps to **four tiers** — Neutral, Buy/Sell, Strong, Very Strong — against your own thresholds (defaults: 45% / 70% / 85%).
- A **Daily Phase state machine** (intraday charts only) turns that instant reading into something more usable: it holds a persistent Buy or Sell phase through the day, only flipping on a genuine reversal of the dominant side. A neutral reading never breaks an established phase, and the phase resets fresh at the start of each new day.
- An optional **EMA-alignment filter** (length and source both adjustable) only allows longs when the full candle sits above the EMA, and shorts when it sits fully below — a candle straddling the line is skipped either way.
- **A trade fires only when three things line up on a confirmed bar:** the daily phase actually flips, that flip's consensus % clears your chosen threshold, and — if enabled — the EMA filter agrees. Reversals are automatic: the opposite entry closes the open position and opens the new one.
- **The on-chart table shows all of it live:** the headline bias, the exact consensus % and tier, a −100/+100 thermal gauge, the day's phase (with the time it started), your current simulated position and P&L, the oscillator/MA vote split, and — if you turn on "Show Indicator Details" — every individual indicator's own vote as a colored badge.
## Built and tested on
Developed and tuned on **BTC, 30-minute chart**. It's fully open — test it freely on any symbol or timeframe. It has also shown some workable behavior on **BNB**, without any promises beyond that. Please don't assume performance carries over to other assets or timeframes without testing it yourself first.
## This is the Lite build — please read before using
This public release intentionally leaves out a number of the filters, sensitivities, and safeguards used in more advanced private versions. Specifically, it does **not** include:
- **Any position-sizing or capital/risk management.** The backtest applies only a flat **0.05% commission** and nothing else — position sizing defaults to 100% of equity per trade precisely *because* sizing and risk management are intentionally out of scope here. Treat the results as a read on signal quality, not on what a properly risk-managed account would actually return. Adjust position size and add your own risk management in the Properties tab before drawing any conclusions about real-world returns.
- **Extra signal-confirmation or veto filters** beyond the optional EMA alignment.
- **Stop-loss, take-profit, or any exit logic** beyond the automatic reversal on the next opposite signal.
This is by design. The goal is to isolate one idea — the technical-consensus / contrarian question above — cleanly enough to test, not to hand you a plug-and-play, fully risk-managed system.

Volatility Regime Classifier [AFD]
**What it does**
It answers one question: *is this symbol moving more, or less, than it usually does?*
It measures how far this symbol's own bars have been travelling, ranks that against its recent history, and states the answer as a percentile from 0 to 100 plus a named tier — **QUIET**, **NORMAL**, **ELEVATED** or **EXTREME**. Alongside it you get how the recent stretch compares with the longer one, whether the reading is rising or falling, and a plain-English line saying what that amounts to.
Everything comes from the chart you have open. No VIX, no options data, no implied volatility, no other symbol, and no `request.*()` call of any kind — so it behaves the same on a currency pair, a small-cap, a future or a crypto chart, none of which have an index volatility proxy to borrow.
**How it works**
Realized volatility is measured over three rolling windows — short, mid and long — and one **Sensitivity** setting picks them: Fast 5/15/30, Normal 10/30/60, Slow 20/60/120. Fast is the default.
Four estimators, and this choice matters more than any other setting:
- **Parkinson** (default) — reads the bar's high-low range.
- **Garman-Klass** — reads the range and the open-to-close move.
- **Close-to-close** — reads the dispersion of returns.
- **ATR** — a plain N-bar average of true range. **Not Wilder's smoothing**, so it will
not match PulseWire's built-in ATR at the same length. Deliberate, not a bug.
Parkinson is the default because of a specific failure of the close-to-close default it replaced. Close-to-close measures how *scattered* returns are; a chart reader measures how *far* price went. A clean one-way slide has every return pointing the same way, so its dispersion is genuinely low — and a choppy bounce covering the same ground scores higher than the slide did. Range-based estimators read what the eye reads.
The short-window reading is ranked against the last **400 bars** to give the percentile, and the tier follows from that rank with a **band around each boundary**, so a reading parked on a threshold does not flip back and forth on sampling noise. The panel tells you when the band is holding a tier back.
There is a second route into EXTREME, and it exists because a percentile is self-normalising: roughly a tenth of all bars sit in the top tier however quiet the year has actually been. So a bar is also called EXTREME when the short window reaches a set multiple of the long one, whatever its rank. The multiple differs per estimator, because the four do not put that ratio on the same scale.
On intraday charts the **session-gap return is excluded**. It spans a close and the next open, so it is not a return over one bar of trading, and leaving it in made every session open read as a volatility event that never happened. It is dropped, not zeroed.
**How to use it**
Add it and read the dashboard. It starts compact at four rows; switch **Compact dashboard** off for the full nine, which name every window, bound and setting actually in force rather than the defaults. Hover the marker at the end of the line for a glossary of every number, also built from your current settings.
- **The percentile line** in the lower pane, tier zones shaded behind it.
- **Price-chart markers** — the bar column painted when a tier you have chosen is reached, or a box spanning the whole episode. EXTREME is marked by default; QUIET, NORMAL, ELEVATED and RISING are all available, and a marked tier always beats RISING so an overlapping bar's colour is never an accident of ordering.
- **The market context box** on the price chart, at the corner you pick or off. A headline names the character of the tape — `RANGE EXPANDING`, `RANGE COMPRESSING`, `WIDE AND HOLDING` and eight others — over a line naming what to re-check, a line stating what the short-to-long ratio amounts to in words, and a standing line reading **`Size only - this says nothing about direction.`**
That last line has no off switch, and the vocabulary above it never uses the words "up or "down". `EXPANDING` is equally what a hard rally and a hard sell-off look like.
**Three alerts**, all evaluated on confirmed bars only: the regime tier changed, the short-vs-baseline state changed, and the EXTREME tier was entered.
**Repainting**
The script reads nothing but the current chart's own bars. There are no `request.*()` calls, no higher-timeframe data and no `barmerge.lookahead_on` anywhere in it, so there is no future data for it to borrow. Once a bar closes, its reading is settled and does not change afterwards.
The bar still forming is the ordinary exception, and it is worth being explicit about: its high, low and close are still moving, so the reading on it moves too, and the tier on the live bar can change before the bar is done. The three alert conditions are gated to confirmed bars for that reason. Drawn elements — the panel, the context box, the episode box — are drawn at the last bar and update with it.
**Why it is original**
It is built for the **Pine Screener**, which is unusual in this category. The first ten plots are the contract — percentile, tier code, ratio, short-vs-baseline code, acceleration tier, regime-changed flag, the two raw RV levels, the percentile's sample count, and a flag saying whether the outputs are fully defined — so you can rank or filter a whole watchlist by volatility regime instead of reading one chart at a time. Zero `request.*()` calls, and the warmup is sized to fit the Screener's 500-bar window.
The other difference is that **the regime is a number, not a colour.** The visual layer is drawn *from* the percentile and never replaces it; every tinted panel row still states its value in words, and the whole visual layer switches off without a single reported number changing.
**Limitations**
- **It says nothing about direction, and it is not a signal.** No entries, no exits, no targets, no probability, win-rate or expectancy language anywhere in the script. It describes what has already happened on the chart in front of you.
- **It needs history.** At the default Fast preset the percentile is undefined until bar 404 and shows blank until then. The size-based EXTREME route is defined from bar 30, so **a bar can legitimately show an EXTREME tier beside a blank percentile row** — the panel says which is which, and the `Outputs fully defined` plot flags it.
- **A percentile is relative to this symbol's own recent history.** QUIET on one instrument and QUIET on another are not the same absolute amount of movement. The panel carries the absolute RV level next to the rank for exactly this reason.
- **ATR here is a simple average, not Wilder's**, as above.

WHAT THE ORIGINAL MEASURES
The oscillator tracks two exponential envelopes, one on price and one on price
squared. Differencing them recovers a standard deviation for each direction of
travel. The bull component grows as price pulls away above its lower envelope. The
bear component grows as price pulls away below its upper envelope. Whichever is
larger tells you which side is doing the work, and how hard.
The important thing to understand about this family of readings is that it is a
measure of distance already travelled. It cannot be large until a move has already
happened. That shapes everything about how you use it.
WHAT THIS VERSION ADDS
Adaptive envelope decay. The original decays its envelopes at a fixed rate set by one
length input. This version computes an efficiency ratio over a lookback and slides the
decay rate between a fast bound and a slow bound. In a clean directional move the
envelope forgets old extremes quickly, so the reading responds sooner. In chop it
slows back down to roughly the original behaviour. ER Power controls how much trend
quality it demands before speeding up.
Normalization. The raw components come out in price units, which means a threshold you
find on one symbol is meaningless on another. Percent mode expresses them as a share of
price. ATR mode expresses them in volatility units. Either way your settings travel.
Energy gate. The original compares the components to their own moving average, which
costs you several bars of lag. This version ranks the larger component as a percentile
of its own recent history instead. There is no smoothing involved, so it reacts the
moment expansion starts, and the number means the same thing on every instrument. A
gate of 90 means you only act on readings in the top tenth of what this market
normally produces.
Deadband with hysteresis. Entry requires the spread between the two components to
clear a percentile band. Exit only requires the spread to change sign. That asymmetry
is what lets the faster envelope run without producing constant flips around the zero
line.
Trade management on the chart. When bias flips, the script marks the entry and places
a stop at a multiple of ATR, both drawn on the price chart. Once price has moved a set
distance in your favour the stop jumps to just past your cost, then a chandelier trail
arms and ratchets in one direction only. It never loosens. The trade ends at that stop
or on an opposite signal, which closes and reverses. Stop colour tells you the state
at a glance. Red is the initial stop, orange means breakeven is locked, blue means the
trail is running.
Everything else. Optional squeeze filter requiring a quiet stretch before the gate
opens, the envelopes drawn on the price chart, bias shown three ways so you can read
direction without looking at numbers, and a single alert carrying entry, stop and
energy.
HOW TO READ IT
Green bars, green background, LONG label means the bull component leads and the gate
was open when it flipped. Red is the reverse. Grey bars mean no position. The two
faint black lines in the pane are the deadband, so you can see how far the spread has
to travel before a flip qualifies. Fill intensity between the components tracks
energy, so a washed out fill means the market is quiet by its own standards even if
the components have crossed.
Orange dots along the bottom mark bars where the gate is open but no bias has been
established yet. Think of those as armed and waiting.
SETTINGS
Energy Gate is the one that matters. It sets how selective the entries are, and
nothing else in the script changes behaviour as much. Raise it for fewer and larger
setups, lower it for more frequent ones. Expect a high gate to feel quiet. That is the
setting working.
Stop, breakeven and trail distances are all measured in ATR rather than in R, and that
is deliberate. Denominating protection distance in R ties how far you wait before
protecting profit to how far you are willing to be wrong, and those two should move
independently.
Defaults are set for 15 minute crypto. Presets are included for 5 minute and 1 hour.

It condenses mean-deviation and normalized momentum into one clean, smoothed oscillator, classifies the current market regime, and prints sparing BUY / SELL labels only at stretched extremes that align with a trend. A dashboard summarizes every moving part at a glance.
▎ HOW IT WORKS
• Z-Score component — price is measured against its moving mean and standard deviation, then clamped at ±3σ and rescaled to ±100. This captures how far price has deviated from equilibrium.
• Momentum component — rate-of-change is normalized by its own standard deviation (volatility-adjusted), clamped at ±3σ and rescaled to ±100. This measures thrust independent of raw price size.
• Composite blend — the two components are combined using your chosen weights, EMA-smoothed, and clamped into a single -100..+100 oscillator , with an EMA signal line layered on top.
• Regime filter — a Kaufman Efficiency Ratio (directional change ÷ total path) scores 0..1. High values = trending; low values = mean-reverting; in-between = random. Direction is read from price versus its mean.
• Signal gate — a raw BUY needs the oscillator to cross up over its signal, to have recently visited oversold , and to sit inside a trending-up regime. SELL is the mirror. A cooldown enforces a minimum bar gap so labels stay few and never stack.
• Divergence — pivot highs/lows on the oscillator are compared to price pivots to flag regular bullish and bearish divergences.
▎ HOW TO USE IT
• Read the oscillator like a bounded momentum gauge — blue above zero, magenta below. Pushes into the dotted ±80 extreme bands mark exhaustion zones.
• BUY pills appear at oversold turns inside up-trends; SELL pills at overbought turns inside down-trends. Treat them as context-filtered setups, not standalone triggers.
• Use the regime as your playbook: in Trending , favor pullback continuation; in Mean-Rev , fade the band extremes; in Random , stand aside or size down.
• The subtle pane background tint mirrors the regime — blue for trending-up, magenta for trending-down, grey for mean-reverting.
• Divergence dots on the oscillator hint at weakening thrust; combine with your own structure and risk levels.

The "Quiet Accumulation" state (low momentum but rising volume percentile) and the "Thin" state (strong momentum but low participation) are specifically called out because they are the most actionable readings — both indicate that the price reading and the order-flow reading disagree, and that disagreement deserves a label.
How it works
Each bar, the following quantities are computed.
Raw momentum. Rate-of-change of close over a configurable length, then z-scored (subtract the mean, divide by the standard deviation) over the normalization lookback. The result is approximately bounded but can exceed plus or minus 3 in extreme moves.
EMA slope. A 50-period EMA's change over a configurable lookback, min-max normalized to 0-100. Used as a secondary directional bias (computed and exposed as a hidden plot, but not directly added to the displayed oscillator).
Volume percentile. Volume rank over the normalization lookback (typically 100 bars).
Close-location value. Where the close sits within the bar's high-low range, expressed as a percentage. For an upward-direction reading, a close near the bar's high indicates buyers won the bar; for a downward-direction reading, a close near the bar's low indicates sellers won.
Participation. Volume percentile (divided by 100) multiplied by direction-aligned close-location value (also normalized to 0-1). Result is in ; higher means "good participation".
Range per volume. Bar range divided by volume. High range per volume means a wide candle moved on thin flow — typical of news spikes, illiquid prints, or false moves. The percentile rank of range-per-volume is inverted (low range-per-volume gives a high "efficiency score") and used as a quality factor.
Quality blend. A weighted combination: 0.4 * participation + 0.4 * range_efficiency + 0.2. The +0.2 floor ensures that even with zero participation and zero efficiency, the adjusted momentum retains 20% of the raw signal so the oscillator does not flatline completely.
Adjusted momentum = raw momentum × quality blend.
State classification (mutually exclusive):

How to read the chart
The primary plot is the adjusted-momentum histogram, colored by state.
A thin overlay line shows the same value with continuous color for easy zero-line reading.
Reference lines at zero and at ±1 standard deviation provide context for how extreme the current reading is.
Hidden plots expose raw momentum, participation, volume percentile, and direction so they are available in the Data Window.
The dashboard panel shows the current state in the header, then numeric readings for raw momentum (in z-units), adjusted momentum, volume percentile, participation, range efficiency, and the quality blend.

How to use this script
This is a confirmation indicator. It does not generate entries on its own.
When considering an entry on price strength alone, check this indicator. A Strong Bull or Strong Bear state confirms that volume and close location support the move.
The "Thin" state is a warning. A breakout that prints during a Thin reading should be treated more cautiously than the same breakout during Strong Bull.
The Quiet Accumulation state can identify periods of base-building before a move and is useful as a "watchlist" signal.
Use alongside a setup-specific indicator for entry timing.
Limitations and honest caveats
Volume quality varies dramatically between markets. On crypto exchanges, wash-trading and bot-driven order flow can produce misleading volume percentile readings. Apply with awareness.
Z-score normalization requires the lookback to contain a representative variety of states. On instruments with strong regime changes, early-bar z-scores may be unreliable until the lookback fills.
The close-location alignment factor reads single-bar close behavior. On gappy markets or after market closes, the alignment may not reflect intraday order flow.
The script does not signal direction independently; it adjusts and labels momentum that is already present.
The +0.2 floor in the quality blend is a design choice to avoid flat-lining the oscillator. Users who want a strict "zero adjustment when participation is zero" reading can set the participation weights higher and adjust the floor by modifying the source code.

This script accumulates volume while price sits inside an overbought or oversold RSI zone and only flags the episode once that accumulated volume reaches a defined threshold, distinguishing zones with real participation from zones with weak, low-volume RSI extremes that are more likely to be ignored by price.
WHAT IT IS MADE OF
1. RSI Engine
A standard RSI (configurable length and source) checked against two configurable levels: an overbought level (default 70) and an oversold level (default 30).
2. Volume Accumulator
From the moment RSI enters an overbought or oversold zone, the indicator starts summing the volume of every bar for as long as RSI remains inside that zone. This running total resets to zero each time a new zone episode begins (i.e., each fresh entry into overbought or oversold after having been outside it).
3. Volume Threshold
A simple moving average of volume (default length 20) multiplied by a user-defined factor (default 8) forms the validation threshold. This threshold is recalculated on every bar using current volume conditions.
4. Validation Logic
The indicator continuously compares the accumulated zone volume against the threshold. The first bar where the accumulated volume reaches or exceeds the threshold — while RSI is still inside the zone — triggers the signal for that episode. Only one signal can fire per zone episode; once triggered, the indicator will not signal again until RSI exits the zone and re-enters it later.
WHAT IT SIGNALS AND HOW
- A green upward triangle below the bar marks a validated oversold episode (accumulated volume met the threshold while RSI was oversold).
- A red downward triangle above the bar marks a validated overbought episode (accumulated volume met the threshold while RSI was overbought).
- A label is plotted at the signal bar showing the exact accumulated volume figure for that episode, so the reader can see how much participation triggered the validation.
- RSI readings that reach overbought/oversold but never accumulate enough volume before exiting the zone produce no signal at all. These "weak" episodes are intentionally left unmarked.
HOW TO INTERPRET IT
A signal does not mean "buy here" or "sell here." It means: at this point, price has been overbought/oversold for long enough, with enough volume behind that condition, that the RSI extreme is more likely to carry real weight. Historically, this tends to coincide with one of three outcomes:
- Price decelerates and reverses direction.
- Price decelerates and consolidates/pauses before continuing.
- Price continues in the same direction, but at a reduced pace.
The signal is a condition-strength marker, not a directional entry trigger.
HOW TO USE IT
Use this indicator as a filter or confirmation layer on top of your own analysis — for example, alongside support/resistance, structure, or other timing tools — to judge whether a given overbought/oversold reading is likely to matter. LIMITATIONS

Lower-timeframe reconstruction
Real microstructure lives below the chart timeframe. The pulse engine pulls intrabar prints from a configurable LTF (default 1 minute; auto-mode picks ~1/20 of the chart TF) and classifies each tick via the standard tick rule. The classified ticks are then EMA-smoothed by a configurable pulse length (default 14) and optionally volume-weighted (default ON) so a heavy print contributes proportionally more to the read than a light one.
The output is a smoothed signed value bounded approximately in where:

How to read it
Three reads, in order of conviction:
Massive Imbalance alert at a structural level — the highest-conviction single read. Institutional decisiveness landed on the tape at a known S/R; the next directional move is more conviction-aligned with the imbalance side.
Pulse Extreme + matching aggressive streak — sustained dominance. The pulse is decisively past its extreme threshold AND the streak histograms show consecutive same-side runs above the streak minimum. This is the regime where momentum tools have their largest edge.
Aggression Flip after extreme — exhaustion read. The pulse hit extreme then flipped sign; the institutional commitment that drove the extreme has just rotated. Often produces clean reversals.
Suggested settings
Defaults (1m LTF, pulse EMA 14, streak EMA 7, volume-weighted ON, ±0.50 / ±0.70 thresholds, 80% imbalance, 5-tick streak min) are tuned for 5m–15m charts on liquid futures and crypto. For lower-timeframe scalping, drop LTF to 15s or 30s (Premium plan required) and pulse EMA to 8. For HTF, set LTF auto-mode and raise streak min to 10. The volume-weighting is the recommended default — without it, equal-tick instruments dominate the read regardless of size.
Originality

This is the default and more conservative assumption.
Targets First
Reached targets are processed before Stop.
If TP3 is reached, the model closes at TP3.

How to interpret:
Extreme Fear does not automatically mean buy. In a bear regime, fear can continue and price may keep falling. Extreme Fear becomes more useful when the broader regime is improving or when bullish divergence appears.
Extreme Greed does not automatically mean sell. In a strong bull regime, greed can support continuation. However, extreme greed with fading momentum may indicate crowding risk, where trimming or reducing exposure may be considered.

Entropy Oscillator [JOAT]ENTROPY OSCILLATOR
A pane oscillator that measures the Shannon entropy of recent returns — the information-theoretic measure of how uncertain (chaotic) vs how predictable (directional) the recent distribution of price moves has been. Low entropy = the market is in a directional regime; high entropy = the market is chopping. Unlike volatility, entropy does not care about how big moves are — only how concentrated their distribution is. That distinction is what makes it one of the cleanest regime-classification tools in quantitative finance.
Shannon entropy, applied to markets
For a sequence of N recent log returns, the script:
Bins the returns into B equal-width bins across the empirical range.
Computes the probability of each bin (count / N).
Computes the Shannon entropy: H = −Σ p(i) · log(p(i)) over non-zero bins.
Normalises to by dividing by log(B) — the maximum possible entropy for B bins, which corresponds to a perfectly uniform distribution.
A perfectly uniform distribution (returns evenly spread across all bins → chaotic chop) produces normalised entropy of 1.0. A perfectly concentrated distribution (all returns in one bin → directional regime) produces entropy of 0. Real markets sit in between, and the script's job is to tell you where.
Two-threshold regime classification
Normalised entropy < low threshold (default 0.30) → DIRECTIONAL regime. The distribution of returns is concentrated; momentum tools work.
Normalised entropy > high threshold (default 0.70) → CHOP regime. The distribution is spread; reversion tools work.
Between the thresholds → MIXED regime. Neither side has the edge.
The thresholds are the spec-default institutional values; tighten or loosen for your instrument.

How to read it
Two reads, in order of conviction:
Entry into Low Entropy — the directional commitment signal. The recent distribution of returns has narrowed; the market is in a momentum regime. Pair with a directional indicator (the dashboard's suggestion row tells you which).
Entry into High Entropy — the chop confirmation signal. Returns are widely distributed; momentum tools whipsaw, reversion tools work. Pair with a reversion indicator.
The "slope of entropy" itself is the leading read — when the line is falling toward the low threshold, a directional regime is forming; when it is rising toward the high threshold, chop is building. You do not need to wait for the threshold cross if you trust the slope gradient.
Suggested settings
Defaults (window 50 returns, 10 bins, EMA smoothing 3) are tuned for 15m–4H on liquid markets. The rule of thumb is window / bins ≥ 5 so each bin has enough samples to be statistically meaningful. For lower timeframes drop window to 30 and bins to 6. For HTF raise window to 100 and bins to 12.

Shannon entropy is textbook 1948 information theory — public domain. The implementation here — the rolling N-return histogram pipeline with configurable bins, the log(B)-normalised entropy formula, the two-threshold regime classifier with mixed centre, the slope-coloured entropy line, the chart-overlay bar-colouring projection from the pane, and the user-configurable Suggested JOAT Indicator dashboard row — is JOAT-original. Limitations
Shannon entropy describes the recent distribution of returns — it does not predict direction. A directional regime tells you momentum tools should work; it does not say which way. The histogram is sensitive to bin count and window length; the rule-of-thumb window / bins ≥ 5 is the default sanity check. EMA smoothing trades some lag for substantially reduced flicker; turn smoothing to 1 to see raw entropy.

How it works
The indicator combines four classic, well-understood concepts so that no single signal can produce a false trend on its own:
1. ADX (trend strength): measures how strongly the market is trending. Below the threshold, the market is treated as consolidation regardless of direction.
2. DI+ / DI− (direction) : the Directional Movement pair decides whether strength is to the upside or downside.
3. EMA position + slope (confirmation) : price must be on the correct side of the EMA and the EMA must be sloping the right way. This filters out counter-trend spikes.
4. ATR & EMA-distance (range detection) : consolidation is flagged when volatility compresses or price hugs the EMA, even if ADX hasn't fully dropped yet.
A phase only changes after the condition holds for a configurable number of candles (Confirmation Bars). This is the key to removing the constant flip-flopping that plagues most trend indicators.
Trend rules
✏️ Bullish = ADX above threshold and DI+ > DI− and price above EMA and EMA rising — held for N bars.
✏️Bearish = ADX above threshold and DI− > DI+ and price below EMA and EMA falling — held for N bars.

◆ WHY THE SQUEEZE WORKS
When Bollinger Bands contract inside the Keltner Channel, volatility is compressing — the market is coiling like a spring. Low volatility is always followed by high volatility. The squeeze tells you a big move is building; the momentum histogram tells you which direction it is most likely to release. Trading the release of a squeeze is one of the highest-reward, lowest-risk setups in technical analysis.

Bollinger Bands (length/multiplier) measure compression; Keltner Channel (ATR-based) is the volatility reference. A squeeze is active when both BB edges sit inside the KC edges.
Three KC multipliers create three compression tiers so you can tell a mild coil from a maximum-tension coil.
Momentum is a linear regression of price versus the average of the Donchian midline and the moving average (LazyBear method).
The script tracks the tightest tier reached during each coil; a fire is only flagged when the coil reaches your chosen tier and then releases — so arrows mean something.
Coil Energy accumulates from how long and how tightly price has been compressed, and discharges on release — a unique read of stored breakout potential.

Flow Pressure OscillatorFlow Pressure Oscillator visualizes directional market pressure, trend alignment, regime quality, pullback pressure, and extended pressure conditions in a separate oscillator pane.
The tool is built to help traders read whether market pressure is leaning bullish, bearish, or neutral. It combines trend structure, EMA alignment, ATR-normalized movement, ADX, directional efficiency, volatility behavior, and volume participation into a bounded flow reading between -100 and +100.
The main Flow Trail shows the current pressure direction and strength. Positive readings indicate bullish pressure, negative readings indicate bearish pressure, and values near the zero line suggest a more neutral or mixed environment.
Regime Dots show the internal market regime state. Upper dots represent bullish regime pressure, lower dots represent bearish regime pressure, and neutral readings show that no strong directional regime is active.
