A divergence occurs when price prints a new extreme but an oscillator refuses to confirm it. A regular bullish divergence forms when price makes a lower low while the oscillator makes a higher low — a classic reversal condition. A regular bearish divergence forms when price makes a higher high while the oscillator makes a lower high. Hidden divergences are the continuation counterparts: price makes a higher low while the oscillator makes a lower low (hidden bullish), or price makes a lower high while the oscillator makes a higher high (hidden bearish). The Composite Oscillator is the consensus reading of every engine you enable. Bounded oscillators (Relative Strength Index, Stochastic, Money Flow Index) contribute their native zero-to-one-hundred values; unbounded engines (Moving Average Convergence Divergence histogram, On Balance Volume, Momentum) are range-normalized over a configurable lookback; the Commodity Channel Index is rescaled onto the same axis. The average of all enabled engines plots as a single gradient line with overbought and oversold guides, a midline fill, and divergence lines drawn directly on it — so the pane shows aggregate momentum from the same engines that vote on every signal, not a separate calculation.
🔶 WHY THIS SCRIPT IS ORIGINAL
1. True multi-engine confluence. Divergences are not detected on one oscillator and decorated with others. All seven engines are evaluated independently at every confirmed pivot, and a signal only exists when the minimum confluence count you set is reached.
2. Dual-canvas mirroring. Every qualified divergence is drawn twice: on price, and on the Composite Oscillator in the pane, connected at the same two pivots. Both slopes of the disagreement are visible simultaneously — the visual proof that defines a divergence.
3. Consensus composite pane. The pane line is not one more oscillator; it is the averaged, normalized voice of the exact engines doing the scanning, colored by a gradient between the oversold and overbought guides.
4. Full transparency on every label. Each signal prints its strength as a diamond meter and lists the exact oscillators that diverged (for example: RSI · OBV · MFI). You always know why a signal exists — nothing is a black box.

6. Reaction zones with a life cycle. Every regular divergence projects a volatility-sized zone around its pivot (measured in Average True Range). Zones gray out automatically the moment price invalidates them, so the chart always distinguishes live zones from dead ones.
7. Divergence pressure gauge. A decaying pressure model accumulates bullish and bearish divergence weight over time, giving a one-glance read on which side has been stacking disagreement with price.
🔶 HOW IT WORKS
Pivot scanning: Swing highs and swing lows are confirmed with a symmetric pivot lookback. All divergence checks are evaluated on closed bars at pivot confirmation, so historical signals do not repaint. Confirmation lag equals the right-side pivot length by design.
Confluence evaluation: At each confirmed pivot, every enabled oscillator's value at that pivot is compared against its value at the previous same-side pivot. The four divergence types are tested independently per oscillator, and contributions are counted.
Signal grading: Signals meeting the Minimum Oscillator Confluence print with strength diamonds (one per contributing oscillator). Signals reaching the Strong Signal Threshold upgrade to the accent color and thicker geometry on both the price chart and the composite pane.
Composite rendering: The pane plots the consensus line with a gradient fill to the midline, dashed overbought and oversold guides, tinted extreme bands, triangle marks at divergence bars, and the mirrored divergence lines.
Reaction zones: Each regular divergence projects a box around its pivot sized by Average True Range, extended a configurable number of bars. A bullish zone grays out when price closes below it; a bearish zone grays out when price closes above it.
Dashboard: A fully themeable panel on the price chart shows the last signal, a live divergence pressure meter, and one row per engine with its live value — color-coded for overbought, oversold, or directional state — plus each engine's most recent divergence side. Text size (four steps), position, and every color (title band, background, frame, grid, header, body, muted) are adjustable.
Chart hygiene: The number of divergences kept is capped by input, on both canvases. Older lines, labels, and zones are deleted automatically, keeping the chart readable and the auto-scale anchored to current price.

1. Works on any market — cryptocurrency, forex, gold, indices, stocks, futures — and any timeframe. Higher timeframes produce fewer, larger-structure signals.
2. Start with Minimum Oscillator Confluence at 2 and the Strong threshold at 4. Raise the minimum to 3 for a strict, low-frequency reversal tool; lower it to 1 to study single-oscillator behavior.
3. Read the pane and the chart together: a valid signal shows price sloping one way and the composite sloping the other, connected at the same pivots.
4. Regular divergences are reversal-oriented: treat them as exhaustion evidence at swing extremes, strongest when the composite is also inside an overbought or oversold band.
5. Hidden divergences are continuation-oriented: treat them as trend re-entry evidence during pullbacks, and do not read them like reversal signals.
6. Use the reaction zone as the decision area: a live zone holding on retest supports the signal; a grayed zone means the divergence failed.
7. The pressure meter is context, not a trigger — persistent one-sided pressure alongside fresh strong signals is the highest-quality condition.

🔶 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does the indicator repaint? No. Divergences are evaluated only on confirmed pivots at bar close. The trade-off is intentional confirmation lag equal to the right-side pivot length.
Why does a pane divergence line sometimes start slightly off the composite's visual peak? Divergence is measured at price structure points. The line connects the composite's values at the two confirmed price pivots, which is the correct comparison even when the composite made its own extreme a bar or two away.
Why do some obvious divergences not print? Either the confluence minimum was not reached, the oscillator involved is disabled, or the swing did not confirm as a pivot under the current lengths.
Which oscillators should I enable? The default set mixes momentum and volume perspectives, which is the point of confluence: independent evidence, not seven copies of the same math.
Is a Strong signal a guaranteed reversal? No. Strength counts agreement between engines; it is a transparency measure, not a probability of profit.

Tidal Divergence is a composite divergence detector that lives in a sub-pane and projects high-conviction divergence visuals onto the price chart. The composite blends three volume-based oscillators — Money Flow Index, percentile-ranked Cumulative Volume Delta, and z-scored OBV rate-of-change — into a single normalized stream. Both regular and hidden divergences are detected. Persistent zones are drawn at divergence pivots, and zone mitigation is tracked with body / wick / rejection modes.
What makes it different
Single-oscillator divergence indicators give a single perspective. Tidal Divergence's composite triangulates three independent volume-derived oscillators so a divergence in the composite is supported by three volume readings instead of one.
Hidden divergences (continuation pattern: price higher low plus oscillator lower low for bull) are detected separately from regular divergences (reversal pattern), with distinct line styles on the price chart.
Each detected divergence creates a persistent demand or supply zone with optional FVG-confluence gating, dynamic alpha-by-age (zones fade as they age), and explicit mitigation logic (body / wick / two-close rejection variants).
A composite percentile envelope (5th to 95th percentile of the last 200 bars) is drawn behind the oscillator so absolute readings are easy to interpret in context.
How it works
MFI(14), daily-reset CVD then ta.percentrank(cvd, 100), OBV ROC z-score over a 20-bar mean / stdev. Three legs, each normalized to roughly the same scale.
Composite equals 0.40 times the normalized MFI plus 0.35 times the normalized CVD percentile plus 0.25 times the clamped OBV ROC z. Hull-smoothed and scaled to centi-percent.
Pivots are detected on the composite stream. A regular bull divergence requires a price lower low paired with a composite higher low within a 5-to-60-bar window. Hidden bull requires a price higher low plus composite lower low. Bear variants invert the conditions.
At each divergence pivot, two horizontal lines are drawn (edge equals lowest wick / highest wick. base equals lowest body / highest body), with a linefill between them, on the price chart via force_overlay=true.

How traders use this
Reversal entries : a regular bull divergence with the composite leaving an oversold extreme is a high-quality long setup, especially when accompanied by an FVG below the divergence price.
Continuation entries : a hidden bull divergence during a clearly trending bull regime is a structurally supported add-on entry on a pullback.
Zone trades : after a divergence prints, treat its zone as an active demand or supply level. Reactions to the zone (touch with rejection candles) are tradable. Mitigation invalidates the level.
Composite filter : only trade with the composite in agreement (composite above 0 for longs). The cross-pane tint helps you stay aligned without checking the pane.
Limitations
Divergence detection inherently lags the actual extreme by the right-pivot window.
Composite values are smoothed and need warm-up bars before they stabilize.
Cumulative Volume Delta is a tick-volume proxy, not true level-2 order flow.
A divergence is a probability, not a guarantee. Many divergences fail before completing their implied reversal.

Why this indicator is different
Standard RSI treats every bar equally. A bar where 100 lots traded and a bar where 100,000 lots traded produce the same RSI value if the price change was the same. That is a fundamental problem. Price moves on low volume are noise. Price moves on high volume are institutional participation. RSI cannot tell the difference.

2. Core calculation
2.1 Volume weighted RSI
Standard RSI sums gains and losses over a lookback period using Wilder's smoothing (RMA). Volume Weighted RSI Pro applies the same structure but multiplies each bar's price change by its relative volume — the ratio of bar volume to the smoothed volume average — before the RMA smoothing step.
A bar with twice the average volume contributes twice as much to the gain or loss accumulation. A bar with half the average volume contributes half as much. This means the oscillator level reflects participation quality, not just price displacement. In practical terms: trending moves on rising volume push the oscillator to extremes faster. Pullbacks on thin volume barely move it. This creates a cleaner, more institutionally-aware reading than standard RSI.
The volume weighted mode can be toggled off to revert to standard RSI behavior for direct comparison.
2.2 Standard RSI reference line
A standard RSI line is plotted as a secondary reference in the same pane. Its color and width are configurable. Divergence between the volume weighted and standard lines reveals moments where volume is distorting the picture — a large move on thin participation that standard RSI registers but the VW version largely ignores, or vice versa.
2.3 Signal line
An EMA of the volume weighted RSI value acts as a signal line, similar in concept to the signal line in a MACD. The default length is 9. When the VW RSI crosses above the signal line, momentum is accelerating to the upside. When it crosses below, momentum is decelerating. Crossover markers appear at the exact cross point and can be toggled on or off. The signal line is most useful as a filter — only take a setup if the RSI and signal line agree on direction.
2.4 Money Flow Index
The MFI is calculated using typical price ((high + low + close) / 3) multiplied by volume, producing separate positive and negative money flow sums that are then converted to an index between 0 and 100. It shares the same scale as the VW RSI, making direct visual comparison possible.
The MFI responds differently from VW RSI because it weights price level rather than price change. Elevated MFI without elevated VW RSI suggests buying pressure at current levels without strong directional momentum. Both indicators in overbought territory simultaneously is a stronger condition than either alone.
3. Divergence detection
Divergence is detected by comparing pivots in the volume weighted RSI against pivots in price over a configurable lookback window
Bearish divergence: price makes a higher high while VW RSI makes a lower high. Momentum is weakening as price extends — a structural warning.
Bullish divergence: price makes a lower low while VW RSI makes a higher low. Selling pressure is exhausting even as price continues lower — a structural opportunity.
Sensitivity controls the pivot lookback window:
- High: 3-bar pivots. More signals, more false positives.
- Medium: 5-bar pivots. Balanced default.
- Low: 10-bar pivots. Fewer signals, higher quality.
When a divergence confirms, two things are drawn simultaneously. In the RSI pane: a solid line connecting the two pivot RSI values. On the price chart: a box spanning the full price range of the bars involved in the divergence. This makes the spatial relationship between the oscillator event and the price structure immediately visible.
The divergence box does not confirm a trade. It confirms that a structural disagreement between price and momentum occurred, and where on the chart it happened.
4. Liquidity levels
Liquidity levels are drawn on the price chart at confirmed swing highs and lows using a pivot detection engine. They represent the price levels where stop orders are likely to cluster — below swing lows for buy stops and above swing highs for sell stops. These are the levels that institutional participants use as targets when running liquidity.
Each level is a horizontal line that starts at the pivot bar and extends to the right in real time. The nearest level is fully opaque. Additional levels fade with distance from current price.
Each level displays a volume ratio label at its origin — the bar's volume at the time of pivot formation relative to the recent average. A level formed on 2.1x average volume is more institutionally significant than one formed on 0.7x volume. This context is part of reading the level.
When price closes through a level, it is removed immediately. The indicator repopulates from the remaining valid pivots. There is no manual cleanup and no visual clutter from levels that have already been swept.
The detail level setting controls how aggressively levels are detected:
- Minimal: wide pivot lookback, only the most significant structural highs and lows qualify.
- Standard: balanced detection, practical default across most timeframes.
- Full: tighter pivot lookback, more levels are identified.
The dashboard shows the nearest bull side level (BSL) and bear side level (SSL) by price, updated in real time.
5. OB/OS zone tracking
When the VW RSI enters overbought or oversold territory, the indicator begins accumulating the total volume transacted during that period. When price exits the zone, a filled box is drawn over the duration of the zone on the RSI pane.
The box includes a volume intensity label showing how the average volume inside the zone compared to the baseline average. A zone with 1.8x average volume indicates elevated institutional activity during the extreme reading — the extension was not just price drift but active participation. A zone below 1.0x is thin and less meaningful.
OB/OS zones are off by default.

10. How to use
10.1 Reading divergence
Divergence is not a signal to enter immediately. It is a warning that the relationship between momentum and price is breaking down. The most effective approach is to wait for the divergence box to appear on the price chart and then look for a second confirmation — a signal line crossover, an OB/OS exit marker, or a price reaction at a nearby liquidity level — before treating the setup as actionable.
Divergence on its own can persist for many bars before price reacts. Use it as directional context, not as a trigger.
10.2 Using liquidity levels
The liquidity lines show where the market has unfinished business — swing levels that formed on meaningful volume and have not yet been revisited. When the VW RSI is approaching overbought or showing bearish divergence and price is simultaneously approaching a sell-side liquidity level above, those two conditions are pointing at the same structural event from different angles.
The volume ratio label at each level is particularly useful. A level formed on 0.6x average volume is a weak level that may not generate a meaningful reaction. A level formed on 2.5x average volume suggests a move was initiated or defended with institutional size. Treat these differently.
10.3 Using VW RSI and MFI together
When both lines are in overbought territory simultaneously, the condition is stronger than either alone. VW RSI is extended on momentum. MFI confirms that money flow at current price levels is also elevated. The two calculations are independent — their agreement is not trivial.
When they diverge — VW RSI overbought while MFI is not — one of the components is not confirming the other. This does not mean the move is wrong, but the confluence is weaker.
10.4 OB/OS zone volume
When the zone volume label shows above 1.5x, the extreme RSI reading occurred during elevated participation. That tells you the extension was not just mechanical drift — there was active buying or selling pressure behind it. An exit from that zone after a high-volume OB/OS period carries more weight than an exit from a thin zone.
10.5 Illustrative bull scenario

11. Tips
The volume ratio in the dashboard is one of the most underused readings. A vol ratio below 0.7 means current price action is thin — institutions are not participating. Signals that fire on low volume ratio are less reliable than those that fire on 1.5x or above.
Signal line crossovers are most useful as filters. Toggle them on during active sessions to see where momentum flips are occurring relative to the rest of the setup. Too many crossovers on a given session usually means the market is ranging — reduce position size or wait for the RSI to expand toward an extreme before taking the cross seriously.
The standard RSI reference line reveals when volume weighting is changing the picture. If the VW RSI is significantly above the standard line, it means recent price movement was driven by above-average volume. If the VW RSI is below the standard line, price moved on thin participation — the market did not commit to the direction.
Liquidity level count in the dashboard tells you how many valid structural references remain. When the count drops — because levels are being swept — it means the market is clearing stops. That is meaningful context for the direction of the current move.

The foundation of the ATC MFO is a Chaikin-style money flow calculation. For each bar, it asks a simple question: where did price close within the bar's high-to-low range, and how much volume was behind that close? A bar that closes at the high of its range with heavy volume is strong buying pressure. A bar that closes at the low of its range with heavy volume is strong selling pressure. A bar that closes in the middle, or closes at the high with minimal volume, is ambiguous.
That per-bar measurement is called the Money Flow Multiplier — it produces a signed value between -1 and +1 for every bar, which is then multiplied by volume to create a Money Flow Volume reading. Those per-bar readings are summed over a rolling lookback window (default 10 bars) to build a directional picture of recent pressure, then divided by total volume in the same window to normalize for volume magnitude. The result is the raw Money Flow Ratio — a clean directional reading of where participation-weighted price activity is clustering.
That raw ratio is what most retail tools stop at. The ATC MFO treats it as the starting point.

ATC MFO Upgrades
1. Z-Score Normalization
The raw Money Flow Ratio is run through a rolling Z-score calculation over a configurable normalization window (default 40 bars). This computes the rolling mean and standard deviation of the raw ratio across recent history and expresses the current reading as a number of standard deviations from that average. The result is the Money Flow Z-Score — the main oscillator line you see on the chart.
This single upgrade changes the character of the tool entirely. Instead of asking "is the reading above 0.25?" it asks "is the reading more than one standard deviation above average for this instrument in this session?" That is a meaningfully different and more honest question. The empirical pressure bands (at ±1 sigma and ±2 sigma) replace the guesswork of fixed thresholds with statistically derived extremes.
2. HMA Signal Line
Most money flow tools use an SMA or EMA signal line. The ATC MFO uses a Hull Moving Average (HMA) for signal smoothing. 3. Hysteresis-Stabilized State Engine
The indicator classifies the current pressure environment into five states: Neutral, Elevated Buying, Extreme Buy Pressure, Elevated Selling, and Extreme Sell Pressure. These states are displayed in the HUD and drive the color logic across the chart. Rather than flickering between states every time the Z-score crosses a threshold by a fraction, the state engine applies a configurable hysteresis band. Once you enter a state, you stay in it until pressure falls meaningfully below the threshold — not just one tick below it. This prevents the visual noise that makes most state-classifying indicators unreliable to read in real time.
4. Session Participation Tracker
The indicator maintains a live volume participation ratio: the current bar's volume expressed as a multiple of the session average volume for that day. A reading of 1.0x means volume is exactly in line with the session average. A reading above 1.20x means the current bar is printing above-average participation, which gives additional weight to whatever the pressure reading shows. A reading below 0.80x flags a low-participation bar — useful context when a pressure signal appears but volume is not backing it. This data lives in the HUD and updates every bar within the active session.

Chart Visuals
Oscillator Line
The main oscillator is the Money Flow Z-Score plotted as a continuous line against the zero axis. The line is colored green when pressure is bullish and red when bearish, with the intensity of the color constant across both states. A soft glow layer behind the line (toggleable) reinforces the directional reading without adding clutter.
Zero Line
The zero line is the neutral dividing line between net buying and net selling pressure. Crossings of the zero line are meaningful — they mark the shift from net bullish participation to net bearish, or vice versa — and have dedicated alert conditions.
HMA Signal Line
The blue signal line is the HMA-smoothed version of the Z-score. It acts as a direction filter and a trend reference for the oscillator. When the oscillator is above the signal line and both are rising, pressure alignment is confirmed. When the oscillator crosses below the signal line, it is an early sign of deterioration even if the oscillator itself has not crossed zero yet.
Sigma Bands
Four reference lines mark the ±1 sigma and ±2 sigma levels. The inner bands (dashed) mark elevated pressure territory — statistically significant, but not extreme. Zone Fills

Z-Score — The current Money Flow Z-Score expressed in sigma units to two decimal places. This is the raw number behind the oscillator line. Positive values indicate above-average buying pressure; negative values indicate above-average selling pressure. The cell background reflects the current pressure regime.
Signal — The current direction of the HMA signal line: Rising, Falling, or Flat. This one-word read tells you at a glance whether the smoothed pressure trend is accelerating, decelerating, or transitioning.
Participation — The current bar's volume expressed as a multiple of the session average. Displayed to two decimal places with an "x" suffix (e.g., 1.43x). Green when above 1.20x, red when below 0.80x, neutral otherwise.

Alerts
The ATC MFO includes four alert conditions. All fire on state transitions or zero-line crosses, not on every bar within a given state. This means you will never get spammed with alerts while an existing condition persists — alerts only fire at the moment something changes.

How to Trade With It
The ATC Money Flow Oscillator is not a signal generator. It does not tell you when to buy or sell. It tells you what participation-weighted pressure is doing so you can make better decisions about the trades your other analysis is already identifying. Use it as a confirmation and context layer.
Step 1 — Establish your directional bias. Use your preferred method — price structure, trend analysis, key levels, or market context — to identify the direction you are considering trading. The MFO confirms or contradicts that bias.
Step 2 — Check the Z-score and state. Before entering a trade, look at the HUD State and Z-Score readings. For a long entry, you want to see the state reading Neutral, Elevated Buying, or Extreme Buy Pressure, and the Z-score above zero. For a short entry, the inverse applies. If you are looking for a long and the MFO shows Elevated Selling, consider waiting for pressure to realign.
Step 3 — Check the signal line direction. The HMA signal line direction (shown in the HUD as Rising, Falling, or Flat) tells you whether pressure is accelerating or decelerating. The strongest confirmation is when the oscillator is above zero, the state is bullish, and the signal is rising. The weakest setup is when the oscillator and signal are diverging.

The longer TMF remains above or below zero, the stronger the trend.
Extreme Values
Strong positive or negative readings indicate intense buying or sellistng pressure:
Sustained high positive values (above +0.4) suggest strong accumulation

Sustained low negative values (below -0.4) suggest strong distribution
but may also indicate oversold conditions.
These extremes work best when used in conjunction with price levels and

Divergences
Divergences between price and TMF often signal potential reversals:

Trend Confirmation
Use TMF to confirm the strength of existing trends:
In an uptrend, TMF should remain mostly positive with occasional dips below zero.
In a downtrend, TMF should remain mostly negative with occasional rises above zero.
If TMF contradicts the price trend, consider the trend weak or potentially ending.

Definition
The Money Flow Extended (MF) indicator brings together the functionality of the Money Flow Index indicator (MFI) , a tool created by Gene Quong and Avrum Soudack and used in technical analysis for measuring buying and selling pressure, and The Relative Strength Index (RSI) , a well versed momentum based oscillator created by J.Welles Wilder Jr., which is used to measure the speed (velocity) as well as the change (magnitude) of directional price movements.
History
As the Money Flow Index (MFI) is quite similar to The Relative Strength Index (RSI), essentially the RSI with the added aspect of volume, adding a Moving Average, divergence calculation, oversold and overbought gradients, facilitates the transition from RSI, making the use of MFI pretty similar.
What to look for
Overbought/Oversold
When momentum and price rise fast enough, at a high enough level, eventual the security will be considered overbought. The opposite is also true. When price and momentum fall far enough, they can be considered oversold. Traditional overbought territory starts above 80 and oversold territory starts below 20. These values are subjective however, and a technical analyst can set whichever thresholds they choose.
Divergence
MF Divergence occurs when there is a difference between what the price action is indicating and what MF is indicating. These differences can be interpreted as an impending reversal. Specifically, there are two types of divergences, bearish and bullish.
Bullish MFI Divergence – When price makes a new low but MF makes a higher low.
Bearish MFI Divergence – When price makes a new high but MF makes a lower high.
Failure Swings
Failure swings are another occurrence which can lead to a price reversal. One thing to keep in mind about failure swings is that they are completely independent of price and rely solely on MF. Failure swings consist of four steps and are considered to be either Bullish (buying opportunity) or Bearish (selling opportunity).
Bullish Failure Swing
MF drops below 20 (considered oversold).
MF bounces back above 20.
MF pulls back but remains above 20 (remains above oversold)
MF breaks out above its previous high.
Bearish Failure Swing
MF rises above 80 (considered overbought)
MF drops back below 80
MF rises slightly but remains below 80 (remains below overbought)
MF drops lower than its previous low.
Summary
The Money Flow Extended (MF) can be a very valuable technical analysis tool. Of course, MF should not be used alone as the sole source for a trader’s signals or setups. MF can be combined with additional indicators or chart pattern analysis to increase its effectiveness.

By combining SMII with MFI, we can gain even more insights into the market.
One way to do this is to use the MFI as an input to the SMII, rather than just using price.
This means we are measuring momentum based on buying and selling pressure rather than just price.
Furthermore, there is the possibility of making several fine adjustments to both the calculation and visualization parameters that are not present in other indicators.

When using the SMII MFI indicator, there are a few things to look out for.
First, look at the SMII signal line.
When the line crosses above -40, it is considered a buy signal, while the crossing below +40 is considered a sell signal.
Also, pay attention to divergences between the SMII and the price.
If price is rising but the SMII is showing negative divergence, it could indicate that momentum is waning and a reversal could be in the offing.
Likewise, if price is falling but the SMII is showing positive divergence, this could indicate that momentum is building and a reversal could also be in the offing.
Divergences can be considered in both indicator and/or histogram.

This last one is purely based on the SMI , which is implemented using SMA smoothing for the relative range and the high/low range.
