🧲 Two Draw Engines, One Scoreboard — the core of this tool. Most level tools track one thing. This one tracks the two opposed states of liquidity and forces them to compete on the same 0–10 scale. Imbalance zones are the voids — bar-to-bar gaps where no trade occurred, an absence price is drawn back to fill. Stop-pool zones are the opposite — dense shelves of resting orders sitting above swing highs and below swing lows, ATR-sized and volume-weighted. A gap is a vacuum; a pool is a wall. Both pull price, for opposite reasons, and until now you had to run two indicators to see them together.
🎯 Confluence Merging — where the real levels come from. Overlapping same-side zones do not stack into visual mush. They fuse. When a gap opens into the same pocket a stop pool already occupies, the two merge into one confluence zone, their volume mass adds, their scores compound, and the zone is tagged ×2 or ×3 on the chart. The levels that survive this merge are the ones two independent mechanisms agree on — and they rise to the top of the ranked panel automatically. No manual confluence hunting.
⭐ 0–10 Zone Strength Score. Every zone is graded on a transparent weighted blend of five factors: volume pressure at formation, zone size relative to ATR, number of tests it has survived, confluence depth, and proximity to current price. Optional idle decay bleeds a zone's score toward a floor while price ignores it, so a stale level cannot masquerade as a live one. Strong zones render sharp and opaque; weak ones fade. Every weight is exposed in settings.

The script renders that literally: the bright remainder is the unworked part of the void, the dimmed slice behind it is what price has already consumed, and the label reports the exact percentage. When price closes fully through, an imbalance is marked FILLED and a pool is marked SWEPT. Every fresh re-entry — not just the first — counts as a new test and feeds the score.
🗺️ Scenario Builder — the powerful new part. This is not a hand-drawn arrow. The script walks your live zone map forward from the last bar and assembles a route from surveyed levels:
1 · TRIGGER — the nearest qualifying zone in the trigger direction. Price runs the stops first.
2 · REVERSE — a retrace of that leg. If a real zone sits within your ATR tolerance of that level, the waypoint snaps onto it and is flagged ⚑.
3 · RETEST — a partial recovery that deliberately fails short of the trigger extreme.
4 · TARGET — the strongest-scoring zone on the far side of price. Not the flashiest, not the furthest. The highest-graded one.
5 · EXTENSION — the next zone beyond target, if one exists.
Trigger direction defaults to Auto, taken from the live net-pull bias. Bars-per-leg are allocated proportionally to price travel, so steep legs stay steep and the path never looks synthetic.
🧮 Honest Path Confidence (0–100), never a fake "chance". Here is the rule the entire script is built on: if a leg is not anchored to a real, scored zone, it is drawn hollow and labelled as projected. If no zone exists on the far side, the target falls back to a measured move — and it says so, the vertex is drawn unfilled, and the confidence meter is cut. An unsnapped reverse waypoint is dimmed. Path Confidence is the mean of the trigger and target zone scores, penalized for anything unanchored. It is labelled confidence in the levels, not probability of the path. You will never see an invented "87% chance price reaches this target." The path is level geometry rendered forward. It re-solves every tick as zones score up, decay, or get swept — a current-state projection, not a committed forecast.

📐 Statistics That Cannot Lie To You. Every zone ever detected stays in the denominator. Retiring a stale zone from the chart never removes it from the fill-rate sample. The reaction test — did price travel back n × ATR within n bars after a fill or sweep? — scores each resolution exactly once, hit or miss, and both numbers are shown. Samples under 20 events are flagged THIN — read with care rather than dressed up as a rate. Volume and delta figures are derived from bar geometry, not tick data, and the panel states that on its own row.

Pivot strength is set left/right 5/5 by default, so a pivot must be the highest high or lowest low of its neighborhood before it counts. 🎯 How To Trade It — Two Approaches
Everything hinges on the grade. A FORMING or WEAK zone is noise you can see; a STRONG or ELITE ◆ confluence zone is where multiple timeframes have already fought. Trade the graded zones, and use Room in ATR to confirm the trade has somewhere to go.
◾ 1 REACT at the zone — trade the rejection
This is the tool's core use. Price arrives at a high-graded zone and you fade the touch back toward the opposite side of the ladder.
▪️ Setup: wait for price to reach a STRONG / ELITE zone — ideally a ◆ confluence zone carrying three or four timeframes. Check the dashboard: is it the ★ Strongest zone? Is Room to the opposite zone worth the risk?
▪️ Entry: on rejection out of the zone, with your own confirmation — a wick, an engulfing close, a lower-timeframe structure break. The zone is the location; it is not the trigger.
▪️ Stop: on the far side of the zone band. The band has real thickness for exactly this reason. A decisive close through the zone means the level failed and the thesis is wrong.
▪️ Targets: the Nearest Sup / Nearest Res on the opposite side, then step through the ladder tier by tier, banking partials at each graded zone.
⚖️ The cleanest version: price runs into a ◆ confluence zone that four timeframes share, grades ELITE, sits at the top of an empty stretch of Room, and rejects on the first touch. First touches of fresh high-graded zones are the setup; the fifth retest of the same zone is not.
◾ 2 TRADE THE BREAK — the zone flips role
The mirror case, and the one that saves you when approach 1 fails.
▪️ Setup: a decisive close through a high-graded zone — especially a ◆ confluence zone — is meaningful information. It took real displacement to break a level that many timeframes were defending.
▪️ Entry: on the retest of the broken zone from the other side, once it has flipped from resistance to support or support to resistance.
▪️ Stop: back on the original side of the zone. If price reclaims it, the break failed.
▪️ Targets: the next graded zone in the direction of travel, then the next. Use the per-timeframe bias tags on the dashboard: breaking into a region where every timeframe shows ▼ SUP means thin structure ahead.
⚖️ Watch the ★ Strongest readout. When the strongest zone on the chart breaks and holds as a flip, that is the session's structural event.
Rule of thumb: ⭐ First touch of a fresh STRONG / ELITE ◆ zone with Room behind it → look for the rejection trade. ⭐ Decisive close through a high-graded zone → stop fading it, wait for the retest and trade the flip. ⭐ Low grades, no Room, or a zone already tested repeatedly → no trade. WHAT IT DOES
This indicator measures the rolling inverse correlation between Gold and the US Dollar in real time. Gold and the Dollar normally move in opposite directions — when that relationship holds, the Dollar is the driver and you can trust it. When the relationship breaks, something else is pushing Gold (real yields, safe-haven flows, fear). Spotting that break is the real edge.
HOW TO READ IT
The correlation is inverted so the chart is intuitive:
Line HIGH and GREEN = strong inverse link (healthy). Gold and Dollar move opposite as they should.
Line YELLOW = the link is weakening.
Line LOW and RED (below zero) = the link is broken. Gold and Dollar are moving the same way — anomaly. Gold is running on its own, not on Dollar weakness.
The midline (zero) is the key reference: above it the inverse relationship is still alive, below it the relationship has flipped.
WHY USDX AND NOT DXY
By default you can use any Dollar symbol in the input. I personally use USDX instead of TVC:DXY because USDX carries volume data, while the TVC Dollar index does not. Correlation is symmetrical (corr A,B = corr B,A), so you only need this indicator on ONE chart — Gold or Dollar, it reads the same link from either side. Using USDX simply lets you keep volume on the Dollar panel.

Length mode: Auto (preset per timeframe) or Manual. Auto adapts the lookback to the chart TF: 5m=14, 15m=16, 30m=18, 1h=20, 4h=24.
Healthy-link threshold: the level above which the inverse link is considered strong. Suggested sets — Scalping 0.4, Intraday 0.5, Swing 0.6.

🎯 How To Trade It — Two Approaches
Everything hinges on one question the tool answers: is this level absorbing aggression (it holds) or is flow breaking through it (it gives)? High-strength zones with heavy absorption favor reaction; weak or de-rated zones being hit with strong same-side delta favor continuation.
◾ 1) Fade into an absorbed zone → rotate to value (reaction) — use on STRONG / ELITE zones (≥7) with heavy absorption
This is the indicator's core thesis. When price drives into a high-strength zone whose grade is built on Absorption and Rejection — most reliable when the Absorption Side confirms the direction (heavy absorption below = defended support, above = defended resistance) and Flow Pressure isn't screaming with the move.
▪️ Wait for price to tag the rated zone and print rejection — a wick or reversal back inside the band, ideally with the Delta column showing the aggressor being absorbed rather than breaking through.
▪️ Entry: on the rejection back inside the zone, facing the Value Area.
▪️ Stop: just beyond the zone / the next stronger level out. If price closes decisively through and holds, the absorption thesis failed — stand aside or flip to Approach 2.
▪️ Targets: step toward fair value — the POC as the primary magnet, then the opposite Value-Area edge (VAH/VAL) if momentum carries.
⚖️ The cleanest version: price spikes into an ELITE resistance zone with a tall absorption bar, the Delta column shows buyers getting soaked up, price fails to hold and rotates back down through VAH into the POC. ◾ 2) Break & retest a failing zone → trade with the flow (continuation) — use when zones are weak / de-rated or flow is one-sided
When a level is graded low, when the Delta column shows persistent same-side pressure into it, and the Flow Pressure verdict and MTF Flow all lean the same way, a clean break is the order flow expanding, not exhausting.
▪️ Wait for a decisive close beyond the zone on strong same-side delta (not a single wick), with the band failing to absorb.
▪️ Entry: in the direction of the break, on the close beyond the level or on a retest of the broken zone (a broken resistance often flips to support, and vice-versa).
▪️ Stop: back inside the broken zone, against the move.
▪️ Targets: the next ranked zone, the opposite Value-Area edge, or a measured move — trailing as flow extends.

Every session it reads one decision from the prior completed session's daily Supertrend — is the session open above the Supertrend a green, buy-only regime or below it a red, sell-only regime — and then projects an ATR-scaled ladder of reaction zones around the session open. On top of the zones it draws the session's best continuation setups as zone-to-zone arrows: in a green regime it points up from a pullback zone to a target zone; in a red regime it points down from a rally zone to a target below. Every major directional move in every liquid market is preceded by a period of compression. Price range contracts. Volume dries up. Volatility percentile falls toward historic lows. The Bollinger Bands compress inside the Keltner Channels. Narrow range bars form consecutively. This compression is not random — it is the mechanism by which institutional positions are accumulated quietly, without moving price, before the delivery move begins.
Most traders see this compression phase as boring or unreadable and look elsewhere for setups. CATALYST is built on the opposite premise: the compression phase is the most important and readable phase of the entire price cycle . The depth of the compression tells you how much energy is coiling. The directional bias during the compression tells you where that energy is most likely to be released. The higher timeframe alignment tells you whether that release is likely to be with or against the macro institutional flow.
By the time the breakout candle is obvious to everyone, CATALYST has already been tracking the setup for multiple bars — measuring compression depth, monitoring accumulation bias, and computing the ignition probability score in real time. ⚙ The 6-Stage Regime State Machine
CATALYST is built around a deterministic 6-stage regime cycle that every market passes through on every timeframe. Understanding the regime is the foundation of using CATALYST correctly — the dashboard, background colors, and regime flip labels all communicate exactly which stage the market is in at every bar.
Stage 0 — QUIET
The market is dormant. No significant compression is building (score below 35). Volatility is neither low nor building toward a setup. This is the baseline state — the market is between cycles. Gray background tint. No actionable context.
Stage 1 — BUILDING
Compression is beginning to develop (score between 35 and 75). One or more compression signals are present — the squeeze may be turning on, narrow range bars may be forming, volume may be beginning to dry. The coil is winding up. Orange background tint intensifies slightly. The bias vector label appears on the current coil box to indicate which direction accumulation is occurring.
Stage 2 — COILED
Maximum compression state (score 75+, full BB/KC squeeze active). The spring is fully wound. Energy is at maximum concentration. This is the highest pre-ignition alert state. Deeper orange background tint. The coil box is rendered with higher opacity. The COILED flip label appears on the chart. Dashboard shows COMPRESS at 75%+ and SQUEEZE ON. This is the state you watch most closely — ignition can occur at any bar from here.
Stage 3 — IGNITION
A single-bar flash state. The regime transitions through IGNITION on the bar where all ignition conditions are simultaneously met — compression deep enough, bias directional enough, expansion candle large enough, ATR expanding. The cyan background tint and IGNITION flip label mark this bar. The IGNITE signal label fires on this bar. This is the entry bar. Immediately transitions to TRENDING on the next bar.
Stage 4 — TRENDING
The expansion phase. Price is in directional delivery. The regime holds TRENDING until one of the exhaustion conditions fires: RSI reaching extreme levels with climax volume, a significant wick rejection candle in the trend direction, a squeeze reforming during the trend (stall), or a reversal candle closing through the 21 EMA. Yellow-green tint during bull expansion, red tint during bear expansion.
Stage 5 — EXHAUSTION
The expansion energy is spent. One of the exhaustion conditions has triggered. Purple diamond markers appear above or below price. This is the early warning that the trend leg is ending — not necessarily the trend itself, but the current momentum leg. After EXHAUSTION, the regime resets: if compression begins building again, it cycles back to BUILDING; if not, it returns to QUIET and the cycle begins again.
Why the state machine matters: Every signal in CATALYST is regime-gated. Ignition signals can only fire from the COILED state. Exhaustion warnings can only fire from the TRENDING state. This ensures signals are always contextually appropriate — you cannot get an ignition signal without prior compression, and you cannot get an exhaustion warning without a prior trend.

📉 The Compression Score Engine — Measuring the Coil
The compression score is a 0–100 composite reading that quantifies exactly how tightly the market is coiling at any given bar. It is the primary input to the regime state machine and is displayed live on the dashboard.
Six compression components and their weights:
Squeeze State (up to 30 points):
The BB/KC squeeze is the most powerful single compression signal. When Bollinger Bands are fully inside Keltner Channels, the market is at maximum volatility contraction — 30 points. If the squeeze fired on the previous bar (just released), 15 points are still awarded, capturing the residual compression energy at the moment of release.
Narrow Range Pattern — NR (up to 20 points):
The current bar's high-low range is measured against the lowest range over the lookback period (default: 7 bars). When the current bar has the narrowest range in the lookback window, 20 points are awarded. This is the NR7 pattern generalized to a configurable lookback — the classic volatility contraction signal.
NR Streak (up to 15 points):
Consecutive narrow range bars amplify the coil energy. When the NR count over the minimum coil duration reaches the threshold, 15 additional points are awarded. Multiple consecutive NR bars indicate the market has been compressing for a sustained period — a deeper, more energetic coil.
Volume Dry-Up (up to 15 points):
Current volume below the configurable fraction of its moving average (default: 65% of the 20-bar SMA) confirms institutional accumulation is occurring quietly — institutions are building positions without creating visible volume signals. 15 points awarded when volume is dry.
Volume Dry Streak (up to 10 points):
Multiple consecutive bars of volume dry-up, identical logic to the NR streak. Sustained low volume over multiple bars is a stronger coil signal than a single dry bar.
ATR Percentile Rank (up to 10 points):
The current ATR is ranked against its own history over the configurable lookback (default: 100 bars). When ATR is in the bottom 25th percentile of its historical range — meaning volatility is at a historic low for this instrument on this timeframe — 10 points are awarded. Below the 40th percentile scores 5 points. This ensures the compression is genuine historically, not just temporarily quiet in an already volatile market.
Reading the score:
0–35 — QUIET, no meaningful compression building
35–55 — BUILDING, compression developing but not yet actionable
55–74 — COILING, significant compression present
75–100 — FULLY COILED, maximum compression, squeeze active. Ignition-ready state

🧭 The Bias Vector — Who Is Accumulating During the Coil?
Compression tells you the market is coiling. The Bias Vector tells you which direction institutions are accumulating during that coil. Close-Position Bias (up to ±20 points):
Where closes fall within each bar's high-low range, averaged over the lookback period (default: 10 bars). When the average close position is in the upper 55%+ of the range — candles are consistently closing near their highs — buyers are controlling the candle closes. ±20 points based on whether the close bias is bullish (above 0.55) or bearish (below 0.45). This is a subtle but powerful measure of who is controlling the close during the coil.
Micro Structure (up to ±20 points):
Higher highs or higher lows over the structure lookback (default: 20 bars) vote bullish. Lower lows or lower highs vote bearish. ±20 points. Micro structure during compression tells you whether the coil is forming as a higher low (bullish coil) or a lower high (bearish coil) — the internal structure of the compression box reveals directional intent.
HTF Bias (up to ±20 points):
The higher timeframe EMA alignment (default: 60-minute, 50-period EMA). When HTF close is above the HTF EMA — the macro trend is bullish — +20 points. When below, -20 points. When Require HTF Alignment is disabled, this component is neutral. The HTF bias ensures the coil's directional reading is contextualized against the macro institutional flow.
Price vs BB Basis (up to ±15 points):
Whether the current close is above or below the BB basis (Bollinger Band midline). Price above the basis during compression means the coil is forming above fair value — a mild bullish signal. Price below the basis is mildly bearish. ±15 points. This adds a relative positioning dimension to the bias.
Reading the bias vector:
+35 to +100 — bull bias. Buyers are accumulating during the coil. Long ignition is favored
-35 to -100 — bear bias. Sellers are distributing during the coil. Short ignition is favored
-34 to +34 — neutral bias. No clear directional accumulation. Ignition may fire in either direction — lower conviction
Bias Arrow:

The IGNITE label is CATALYST's primary entry signal. It fires when all of the following conditions are simultaneously confirmed on a bar close:

The expansion candle body meets or exceeds the configured minimum (default: 1.15× ATR) — the breakout candle is large and directional

Why this is fundamentally different from a standard breakout signal: A standard breakout indicator fires when price closes above a resistance level or a band. It reacts to what has already happened. CATALYST fires on the ignition bar only after verifying that the preceding compression was deep enough (COILED regime), that the directional bias during the coil was confirmed (bias vector), that the breakout candle itself is sufficiently large (body ATR check), and that the volatility is genuinely expanding (ATR expansion). Every component addresses a specific failure mode of basic breakout trading — false breakouts, weak breakouts, counter-HTF breakouts, and low-compression breakouts are all filtered before the signal fires.

🔮 The Compression Coil Box
When the compression score crosses 55 and the BUILDING regime begins, CATALYST draws a live Coil Box — an orange-tinted rectangle spanning the high-low range of the entire compression period from the first coiling bar to the current bar.
What the coil box represents: The coil box is the visual representation of the spring being wound. Every bar that the coil remains active, the box extends to the right and expands to incorporate the new bar's range. The box's height represents the total price range of the compression period — the tighter this range, the more compressed the energy.
Box opacity: The box becomes more opaque when the compression reaches the fully COILED state (score 75+, squeeze active). This visual intensity progression gives you an immediate sense of compression depth — a faint box means early-stage building, a deep orange box means maximum coil.
Box on ignition: When ignition fires, the box remains on the chart at the coil range, giving you a clear visual reference for the compression zone that preceded the move. The coil box range is also used for structural stop loss placement — the SL Beyond Coil Box Edge setting places the stop loss beyond the coil box boundary rather than a fixed ATR distance from entry.
Box cleanup: When the regime returns to QUIET (compression fully dissipated without ignition), the box is deleted. When ignition occurs, the box is retained as a reference.

The Exhaustion Radar monitors the TRENDING regime for signs that the expansion energy is being spent. When exhaustion conditions are met, purple diamond markers appear above (bull trend exhaustion) or below (bear trend exhaustion) the bar — a warning that the current momentum leg is likely approaching its end.
Exhaustion conditions (any one is sufficient):
RSI climax with volume spike — RSI above the overbought threshold (default: 72) in a bull trend with volume exceeding the configured climax multiple (default: 2.2×). This combination of extreme RSI and high volume is the classic climax top pattern — buyers are exhausting their buying capacity simultaneously
RSI climax with volume spike (bear) — RSI below the oversold threshold (default: 28) with climax volume in a bear trend. Sellers exhausting
Wick rejection in trend direction — a bar with a rejection wick exceeding the configured minimum percentage (default: 55%) in the direction of the trend. A bull trend bar with a massive upper wick indicates aggressive selling into the highs — supply overwhelming demand at the extreme
Trend stall squeeze — when a squeeze (BB inside KC) forms during the trending phase while volume is also drying up. This indicates the expansion move has stalled into a new compression without resolution — energy is being absorbed rather than continuing
Reversal candle through 21 EMA — a strong opposing candle that closes through the 21-period EMA in the trend direction. In a bull trend, a strong bearish close through the 21 EMA indicates the trend's immediate momentum structure has been broken
How to use exhaustion signals: Exhaustion diamonds are not reversal signals. They indicate that the current momentum leg is likely complete — not that the trend has ended. Use them to take partial or full profit on trend trades, tighten trailing stops, or wait for the next CATALYST compression cycle to develop before re-entering.

🎯 Coil-Anchored Risk Guidance System
On every IGNITE signal, CATALYST draws forward-projecting risk guidance levels for the duration of the trade.
Stop Loss (SL):
When SL Beyond Coil Box Edge is enabled (default: on), the stop is placed beyond the coil box boundary — below the coil box low (long) or above the coil box high (short) — plus a small ATR buffer. The coil box represents the full compression range: if price returns into and through the opposite side of the coil box after ignition, the breakout has failed and the setup is invalidated. This gives the stop structural meaning beyond just an ATR distance. When the coil SL is less conservative than the fixed ATR SL, the system uses whichever is further from entry to ensure adequate protection.
TP1 — First Target:
2.0× ATR from the entry close (configurable). The initial partial profit target. At TP1, consider scaling out 50% of the position.
TP2 — Extended Target:
4.0× ATR from entry (configurable). The full expansion target for the remaining position — allowing the trailing stop or regime-based exit (exhaustion signal) to manage the remainder.

When a Bollinger Band contracts entirely inside a Keltner Channel, the market is coiling: range is shrinking and energy is building. A signal fires on the release — the bar where the band expands back outside the channel — and the direction is set by a linear-regression momentum oscillator that measures how far price sits from a composite centreline. Momentum above zero on the release fires a long; below zero fires a short. The longer and tighter the coil before it lets go, the more it counts. 📈 Coil Mapping & Tightness — while a squeeze is active, the engine continuously tracks how many bars it has been compressing, the high and low extent of the coil, and how tight it became — the Bollinger half-width as a fraction of the Keltner half-width. A long coil that wound down to a very tight ratio is a loaded spring; both the duration and the tightness feed directly into the strength score. A minimum-coil filter ignores fleeting micro-squeezes, and an optional Strict Fire setting demands a confirmed expansion on the release bar rather than just the end of the coil.

Manage the trade with the plotted levels: with the default sub-1R targets a common approach is to bank TP1 quickly, then trail or hold the remainder toward TP2/TP3; the structural SL defines your risk on the trade. If you prefer a higher reward-to-risk profile, widen the R targets in the inputs.

A simple, lightweight tool for traders who follow Smart Money Concepts (SMC) or price action. It marks market structure shifts — Break of Structure (BoS) and Change of Character (CHoCH) — and highlights untouched Fair Value Gaps as liquidity zones.
What it does
The script tracks swing highs and lows to detect when structure breaks. A BoS confirms trend continuation; a CHoCH flags a possible reversal. Each event is drawn directly on the chart with a clean bracket and label, using the structure color you choose.
It also plots liquidity zones from unmitigated Fair Value Gaps (the imbalance left when price moves away fast without filling the gap). These yellow areas are, in my own trading, one of the most useful parts of the tool if you work with SMC or price action — they show where price may return to rebalance before continuing.
Built-in alerts — and why they matter
This is the part I really want to highlight. The script comes with ready-to-use alerts for every structure event:

If you trade across multiple assets, you simply cannot watch every chart at once — not on your own. Swing Lookback presets
Detection sensitivity depends on a Swing Lookback value. To keep things easy I've added presets per timeframe:
Auto — picks the lookback automatically based on the chart timeframe
Daily (60), 4H (30), 1H (15), 15m (8), 5m (5), Scalping 1–3m (2)
Manual — set your own value, very simple
Presets are a starting point, not gospel. It's always better to check the result on your own chart and adjust the lookback until the structure marked matches what you actually see. Different instruments and conditions behave differently.

**The simple idea:** Instead of looking at how much your stock costs in dollars, this indicator shows how many ounces of gold one share can buy. If that number goes up, your stock is really gaining ground. If it goes down, your stock is losing — even when the dollar chart looks fine.

## Why this matters
Dollars get cheaper over time. The same $100 today buys less than it did 5 years ago. So when a stock's dollar price goes up, you can't always tell whether:
- The company is actually doing better, or
- The dollar is just getting weaker
By measuring your stock in gold instead, you cut through that confusion. Gold doesn't get printed and doesn't lose value the same way dollars do. So if your stock can buy more gold than before, it's truly worth more. If it can buy less, it's losing — no matter what the dollar chart says.
The math is simple:

## Setup
1. Open PulseWire and click **Pine Editor** at the bottom of the screen

**Important:** Your chart and the gold price must be in the same currency. The default settings work for U.S. dollar charts. If your chart is in another currency, switch to a USD-priced version of the same stock, or change the gold symbol to a matching currency version.

## What you see on the chart
The pane below your price chart has three things to look at:
**1. The orange line** — your stock's value measured in gold. This is the main reading. When it goes up, your stock is gaining against gold. When it goes down, it's losing.
**2. The trend line** (the smoothed version) — colored to show the overall direction:
- **Green** = trend is going up. Your stock is winning against gold over time.
- **Red** = trend is going down. Your stock is losing against gold over time.
**3. The colored fill between the two lines:**
- **Green fill** = the stock is currently above its trend (winning right now)
- **Red fill** = the stock is currently below its trend (losing right now)

## How to read the colors — the four combinations

The **vs start** row is the most important number. If it shows -20%, your stock has lost 20% of its real value since the chart began — even if the dollar price is up over the same period.

## Three display modes
You can switch between three views in the settings:
**Mode 1: Ratio (oz/share)**
Shows the actual number — like "0.05 oz per share". Numbers are tiny but precise. Useful when you want the literal figure for valuation work.
**Mode 2: % Change from Start** *(default — easiest to read)*
Shows the percentage gain or loss in gold terms since the chart began. A reading of "+15%" means you've gained 15% in real terms. A reading of "-25%" means you've lost 25%, no matter what the dollar chart says.
**Mode 3: Normalized to 100**
Rebases everything to start at 100. A value of 130 means +30%, a value of 70 means -30%. Useful for screenshots or comparing two charts side by side.

## Real-world examples
**Example 1 — A stock that looked great but really wasn't**
Imagine a stock that's up 40% over 3 years. Your dollar chart looks like a clear winner. But during those 3 years, gold went up 50%. The gold-priced ratio shows your stock is actually **down 6.7% in real terms**. The trend line is red. The 40% gain was mostly the dollar getting weaker — not the company getting stronger.
**Example 2 — A genuine winner**
Another stock is up 80% over the same 3 years while gold went up 50%. The gold-priced ratio shows you're **up 20% in real terms**. The trend line is green. This company actually created real value.
**Example 3 — A "losing" stock during a strong-dollar period**
A stock is down 10% over a year. Looks bad. But during that year, gold dropped 20%. The gold-priced ratio shows you're actually **up 12.5% in real terms**. The trend line might be green even though the dollar chart looks red.

## Common mistakes to avoid
**Currency mismatch.** If your chart is in Japanese yen but you're using a U.S. dollar gold price, the math is meaningless. The chart currency and the gold symbol's currency must match.
**Reading too much into short timeframes.** This indicator works best on daily, weekly, or monthly charts. Don't trust readings on 5-minute or 15-minute charts — they're too noisy.
**Forgetting about dividends.** The indicator compares prices only. Stocks that pay big dividends (utilities, REITs, banks) may be doing better in real terms than the line suggests, because the dividend cash isn't counted.
**Zooming changes the baseline.** The "vs start" percentage uses the first visible bar as its anchor. Zoom out further and that number shifts. If you want to lock in a specific reference date (e.g., "since the pandemic"), turn on the **Custom baseline start date** option and set your date.

## The mental shift
Most people think the dollar chart tells them how their stock is doing. It does — but only against the dollar. By measuring against gold, you're asking a different question: "Is my stock really getting more valuable, or just keeping up with the dollar's slide?"
Once you start watching both charts, you notice things you'd otherwise miss:
- A stock making new dollar highs but flat in gold terms → the rally is dollar weakness, not company strength
- A stock that's flat in dollars but rising in gold terms → a hidden winner
- A stock falling in both → real trouble
