Range Percentile Floor | Astral Vision 🌠💠
This indicator identifies statistically extreme low price zones by plotting a percentile-based floor level derived from the highest and lowest price over a configurable lookback window. When price closes below this floor, the background highlights the condition, flagging potential oversold or capitulation zones relative to recent range structure.
Calculation ⚙️
The indicator calculates the highest high and lowest low over the lookback length, then linearly interpolates a floor level at a user-defined percentage of that range, measured from the low. A lower percentage places the floor closer to the range minimum, making the signal more extreme and selective; a higher percentage raises the floor, triggering more frequently.
Plots 📊
- Floor Line: the calculated percentile level, plotted with a glow effect for visibility
- Background highlight: activates when price closes below the floor line
Inputs 🎛️
- Lower Band %: the percentage of the range used to calculate the floor level
- Bottom Finder Length: the lookback period used to determine the high/low range
Colors 🎨
5 Astral Vision presets + custom override. Default: Paradiso.
Purpose 🎯
Most range-based extremity tools rely on fixed statistical models (z-scores, standard deviations) that assume a specific distribution shape. This indicator instead uses a pure percentile-of-range approach, making it distribution-agnostic and easy to interpret directly on the price chart without needing a separate oscillator pane. It's designed to flag when price enters a historically underrepresented low zone within its own recent trading range.
