What is it?
SkuldX Swing Failure Pattern automatically detects one of the most powerful reversal setups in Smart Money and ICT trading. The Swing Failure Pattern occurs when price sweeps beyond a key swing level — triggering stop-loss orders clustered there — but then closes back within the previous range. This signals that institutional participants have absorbed the available liquidity and are now positioning in the opposite direction.
Unlike random false breakouts, the SFP has a precise structure: a meaningful wick beyond a swing high or low, a close that returns inside the range, and a visible rejection zone where the liquidity grab occurred. SkuldX SFP identifies all three automatically and displays them directly on the chart.
The mechanics
Every swing high and swing low acts as a magnet for stop-loss orders. Retail traders who are long place their stops just below swing lows. Retail traders who are short place their stops just above swing highs. Institutional participants know exactly where this liquidity sits.
An SFP forms when price is deliberately pushed beyond one of these levels to trigger those orders — collecting the liquidity — and then immediately reverses. The result is a candle with a long wick beyond the level and a close that returns inside the prior range. This is not a random failure. It is a deliberate liquidity grab followed by institutional repositioning in the opposite direction.
Two pattern types
🔴 Bearish SFP — price sweeps above a previous swing high with a wick but closes below it. The failed attempt to break higher signals that sellers have absorbed the bullish liquidity and are now in control. Expect a move downward.
🟢 Bullish SFP — price sweeps below a previous swing low with a wick but closes above it. The failed breakdown signals that buyers have absorbed the bearish liquidity and are now driving price higher.
What you see on the chart
Each detected SFP displays three visual elements simultaneously:
Label — appears above or below the candle with the signal direction and the exact price of the swept level. Instantly identifies the pattern without manual analysis.
Dashed line — marks the swing level that was breached. Extends from the beginning of the lookback window to the right, showing which structural level triggered the sweep. This level often acts as support or resistance in subsequent price action.
Rejection zone (box) — shaded area between the wick extreme and the swept level. This is the liquidity grab zone — the price range where stop orders were triggered and institutional positions were built. The size of this zone reflects how aggressively price was pushed beyond the level before reversing.
Quality filters
Two independent filters prevent low-quality signals from appearing on the chart.
Min Wick Size % of candle — requires the rejection wick to be at least a specified percentage of the total candle range. A small wick relative to the candle body suggests weak rejection. Default 0.5%. Increase to 2–3% on noisy instruments to require a more decisive rejection.
Min Breach Size % of level — requires the wick to extend at least a specified percentage beyond the swing level. A sweep that barely ticks beyond the level carries less significance than one that pushes meaningfully through it. Default 0.05%. Increase to 0.1–0.2% for stricter confirmation.
Both filters can be set to zero to show all detected patterns without filtering.
Settings reference
Swing Lookback (bars) — defines how many bars back to search for the swing high or low that gets swept. Default 10. Lower values find more local patterns, higher values require more significant swing levels. On 15m charts, 10 bars covers approximately 2.5 hours of price history.
Min Wick Size % of candle — minimum upper or lower wick as a percentage of the total candle range
Min Breach Size % of level — minimum distance the wick must extend beyond the swing level
Show Bullish / Bearish SFP — independent toggles for each direction
Show Labels — toggles the signal label above or below the candle
Show Level Line — toggles the dashed line at the swept swing level
Show Rejection Zone — toggles the shaded box between the wick and the level

Data Window
Hovering over any bar shows binary flags for Bullish SFP and Bearish SFP detection, the current swing high and swing low values used as reference levels, the upper and lower wick percentages, and the breach percentage of the swept level. These values are useful for calibrating the quality filters to your specific instrument and timeframe.
How to use it in practice
Entry timing — the SFP signal fires on the bar where the rejection occurs. The most aggressive entry is at the close of that candle. A more conservative approach is to wait for the next candle to confirm continuation in the reversal direction before entering.
Stop placement — place the stop-loss beyond the wick extreme, outside the rejection zone. The wick tip represents the furthest point of institutional manipulation — price returning beyond it invalidates the pattern.
Take-profit targets — common targets are the opposite swing extreme, a session High or Low from the current day, or the next significant structural level. The swept swing level itself often acts as resistance or support on the retest.
Timeframe selection — SFP signals are most reliable on 15m and above. On very low timeframes the pattern appears frequently but with lower conviction. On 1h and 4h the signals are rarer but carry significantly more institutional weight.
Confluence — the highest-probability SFP setups occur when the swept level coincides with a session boundary. A bearish SFP that sweeps the Asian High during London session is a classic institutional liquidity grab setup. A bullish SFP at Asian Low during the NY Overlap is one of the strongest intraday reversal signals available.
Volume context — a sweep accompanied by above-average volume confirms institutional participation. A low-volume sweep may indicate a thin market move rather than a deliberate liquidity grab.
Common mistakes to avoid
Entering immediately on the wick without waiting for the candle to close. The pattern is only valid after the close confirms the rejection — a candle that is still forming may yet close beyond the level as a genuine breakout.
Trading every SFP signal regardless of context. The pattern is significantly more reliable when it sweeps a level that has been respected multiple times previously, when it occurs during a high-liquidity session window, and when it aligns with the broader directional bias.
Using too small a lookback. A swing high from 3 bars ago carries far less liquidity than one from 10–15 bars ago. Increase the lookback if signals feel too frequent or structurally insignificant.

The core insight: price doesn't reverse at random support and resistance — it reverses where resting orders (liquidity) get consumed. A swing high above the market holds Buy-Side Liquidity (BSL); a swing low below it holds Sell-Side Liquidity (SSL). When price spikes through one of those levels and then closes back inside, that is a sweep: the move grabbed liquidity and rejected. Mirage finds those exact events, measures how clean the rejection was, and turns the strong ones into structured setups. It works on any market and any timeframe.
🧩 WHY THESE COMPONENTS WORK TOGETHER
A raw sweep detector fires on every wick that pokes a level — most of which go nowhere. A pure structure tool (CHoCH/BOS) tells you the trend flipped but not whether liquidity was actually taken first. A risk calculator gives you a stop and targets but has no idea where the trade should go. Used separately, each one leaves a gap the others could fill.

The swing engine remembers recent highs and lows and tags them as resting liquidity. The sweep detector only triggers when a level is pierced and reclaimed on the close — a stop-hunt, not a clean break. The quality score then rates that sweep so weak pokes are filtered out before they ever become signals. CHoCH confirmation (optional) makes price prove the reversal by breaking minor structure before you commit. The risk engine anchors the stop to the actual sweep wick — the precise point invalidating the idea — and projects the next opposite pool of liquidity as the logical objective. Finally, every closed setup is tracked so you can see the strategy's behavior in real time.
Without the score, you drown in low-quality sweeps. Without CHoCH, you front-run reversals that never come. Without wick-anchored risk, your stop sits in an arbitrary place. Without the liquidity target, you have no idea where the move is actually drawn. The combination is what turns "a wick touched a level" into a complete, rule-based trade.
🔍 WHAT MAKES IT ORIGINAL
1️⃣ 5-factor sweep quality score (0-100) — the heart of the system.
Every detected sweep is scored before it can qualify. The score blends five independent, normalized factors:
— 📐 Wick depth (weight 0.30): wickComp = min( max(wick, 0) / ATR , 1.0 ). For a bullish sweep, wick = min(open, close) − low; for bearish, wick = high − max(open, close). Bigger rejection wick relative to ATR = stronger grab.
— 🔄 Reclaim (weight 0.25): rclComp = min( max(reclaim, 0) / ATR , 1.0 ). Bullish reclaim = close − level; bearish = level − close. Measures how decisively price closed back on the right side of the swept level.
— 🕯️ Close position (weight 0.20): closePos = (close − low) / (high − low). For bulls the raw value is used; for bears it is inverted (1 − closePos). Rewards candles that close near the rejection extreme.
— 📊 Volume (weight 0.15): volComp = clamp( (volRatio − 1) / (volMult − 1) , 0, 1 ), where volRatio = volume / SMA(volume, 21) and volMult defaults to 1.5×. On volume-less feeds this factor neutralizes to 0.5 automatically.
— 🧭 HTF bias (weight 0.10): htfComp = 1.0 if the sweep aligns with the higher-timeframe EMA trend, else 0 (or 0.5 if the filter is off).
Final score = (wickComp×0.30 + rclComp×0.25 + cpComp×0.20 + volComp×0.15 + htfComp×0.10) × 100.
A sweep only qualifies when its score ≥ Min Sweep Score (default 50). This single number is your master quality dial.
2️⃣ Sweep vs. break distinction — closes decide everything.
A stored level is treated three ways. For a swing low: if price closes below it, the level is simply consumed (a real breakdown — no signal). If price wicks below but closes back above, that is a bullish sweep. The mirror logic applies to swing highs. This close-based rule is what separates a genuine liquidity grab from a trend break, and it is why the detector ignores most noise wicks.
3️⃣ Two-stage signal — sweep then CHoCH confirmation.
With confirmation on (default), a qualifying sweep becomes a pending setup rather than an instant entry. The signal only fires when price then breaks the most recent minor pivot (Change of Character) within the Confirmation Window (default 13 bars). Minor structure is tracked with its own pivot length (default 8). Turn confirmation off and the signal fires on the sweep bar itself — responsive, but earlier. Pending setups expire automatically if no CHoCH arrives in time.
4️⃣ Wick-anchored risk engine with a minimum-distance guard.
Entry = close of the signal bar. The stop is placed beyond the actual sweep wick:
— Long: SL = sweepLow − ATR×buffer
— Short: SL = sweepHigh + ATR×buffer
If the resulting stop sits closer than ATR×0.5 to entry, it is widened to exactly ATR×0.5 to avoid an unrealistically tight stop. Risk distance dist = |entry − SL|, and targets are pure R-multiples: TP1/TP2/TP3 = entry ± dist × multiplier.
5️⃣ Risk presets — one click from scalp to swing.
Five presets set buffer / TP1 / TP2 / TP3 instantly (SL buffer in ×ATR, TPs in R):
— Conservative: 0.50 / 1R / 2R / 4R
— Balanced (default): 0.25 / 1R / 2R / 3R

6️⃣ Break-even automation after TP1.
When TP1 is touched, the stop moves to entry. From the next bar a wick back to entry closes the trade at break-even — protecting the position once it has paid out its first target. The SL line dims and the entry label annotates "→ SL (BE)" so the state is always visible.
7️⃣ Resting liquidity map — BSL / SSL + EQH / EQL.
Every un-swept swing high is drawn as Buy-Side Liquidity and every un-swept swing low as Sell-Side Liquidity (most recent N per side, default 6). A level disappears the instant it is swept, so the map always shows live, untapped pools. Consecutive near-equal swings (within Equal H/L Tolerance × ATR, default 0.15) are connected as Equal Highs / Equal Lows — the strongest liquidity magnets and the most common sweep targets.
8️⃣ Liquidity target projection — the draw-on-liquidity objective.
On each entry, Mirage projects a line to the nearest opposite un-swept liquidity pool: a long aims at the closest BSL above entry, a short at the closest SSL below. This is the logical place the move is "drawn" toward, independent of the fixed R-multiple TPs.
9️⃣ Higher-timeframe bias as a soft, non-repainting filter.
The HTF trend (close vs. EMA, default 4H / EMA-50) is requested with confirmed prior-bar values and contributes only 10% of the score — it nudges quality rather than hard-blocking signals, so counter-trend sweeps can still fire if they are clean enough.
🔟 Honest, transparent outcome tracking.
The dashboard records every closed setup: wins, losses, win rate (with a visual gauge), and a recent-form strip of the last 10 results. A setup is counted as a WIN the moment TP1 is touched, and a trade closes on a stop-out or when TP3 is reached. This definition is stated openly so you always know exactly what the numbers mean — see Important Notes for the full caveats.
🧠 HOW IT WORKS — CALCULATION FLOW
Step 1 — Map the swings: Confirmed pivot highs/lows (length 21) are stored in bounded memory and tagged as un-swept BSL/SSL.
Step 2 — Detect a sweep: On each new bar, un-swept levels within Max Sweep Distance (default 80 bars) are checked. A wick-through-then-close-back-inside event is flagged as a sweep; a close beyond the level just marks it consumed.
Step 3 — Score it: The 5-factor formula rates the sweep 0-100. Only sweeps at or above Min Sweep Score, after warm-up, on a confirmed bar, qualify.
Step 4 — Resolve the signal: If CHoCH confirmation is on, the sweep becomes a pending setup and waits for a minor-structure break within the window; otherwise it fires immediately.
Step 5 — Build the trade: Entry, wick-based SL (with the ATR×0.5 minimum guard), and TP1/TP2/TP3 as R-multiples are calculated. Only one position runs at a time.
Step 6 — Manage it: Bar by bar, hits are checked on confirmed bars. TP1 triggers break-even; a stop-out or TP3 closes and records the result.

🎯 Quick start — 5 steps:
1. Add the indicator to any chart and any timeframe (15m–4H is a good starting range).
2. Leave every setting on default. The Balanced preset and a Min Score of 50 are a sensible baseline.
3. Wait for a green Long ▲ or red Short ▼ marker. That is your entry signal — and it only appears once a sweep has passed the quality score (and, by default, a CHoCH confirmation).
4. Read the entry, stop, and three targets straight off the chart lines and labels. The numbers are already calculated for you.

— 🟢 Long ▲ / 🔴 Short ▼ = a confirmed signal (a trade opened here).
— ✖️ Small × mark = a raw sweep (liquidity was grabbed) — shown even when no trade opens.
— Dashed level line = the swing high/low that was swept, drawn from where it formed.
— Thick vertical tick = the penetration depth — how far the wick pierced beyond the level.

🔧 Tuning guide (common fixes):
— Too few signals? Lower Min Sweep Score (e.g. 40-45), shorten Swing Length, or turn off CHoCH confirmation for earlier entries.
— Too many weak signals? Raise Min Sweep Score (60+), keep CHoCH on, and enable the Volume filter.
— Stops feel too tight/wide? Switch presets (Conservative widens, Scalping tightens) or set the SL buffer manually in Custom.
— Choppy market? Increase Swing Length and lean on the HTF bias filter so only trend-aligned sweeps score highly.
💡 Trading ideas:
— EQH/EQL hunt: watch a marked Equal High/Low — when it is swept and reclaimed with a high score, the rejection is often clean.
— Draw-on-liquidity: use the gold target line as a partial-exit zone; price frequently reaches the next opposite pool.
— Confirmation toggle: use CHoCH-on for selective swing entries, CHoCH-off on lower timeframes for faster scalps.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES
— 🚫 No repainting. Signals require confirmed bars (barstate.isconfirmed); swing pivots use equal left/right lookback, so the actual pivot is in the past by Swing Length bars and is drawn only once confirmed — this is delayed confirmation, not repainting of future values. The HTF bias is requested with confirmed prior-bar values, and all alerts fire on bar close.
— 📊 How wins are counted: a setup is marked a WIN as soon as TP1 is touched (1R by default). A trade that reaches TP1 and then reverses to break-even still counts as a win. This is a deliberately transparent definition, not an inflated one — read it that way when interpreting the win rate.
— 📐 Stats are session-based and simulated. The dashboard reflects the indicator's own single-position logic on the loaded history and resets when the chart reloads. It is not a broker-accurate backtest and includes no fees, slippage, or funding.
— ⚖️ One position at a time. A new signal can only open while flat — sweeps that occur mid-trade are shown but not traded.

WHAT IS AN SFP?
Every significant swing high and low on your chart has a cluster of orders sitting just beyond it. Stop losses from traders who are long, buy stops from traders waiting for a breakout, limit orders placed at round numbers. All of that sitting at one level is called liquidity.
An SFP is what happens when the market reaches that level, triggers all those orders, and then immediately reverses. Price makes a new high or low — just enough to sweep the liquidity — then snaps back and closes on the other side of the level.
Bullish SFP — wick below a prior swing low, close back above it. The sell stops below that level got triggered. The sellers who just got filled are now trapped. Price is labeled below the wick.
Bearish SFP — wick above a prior swing high, close back below it. The buy stops above that level got triggered. The buyers who just got filled are now trapped. Price is labeled above the wick.
SFP+ and SFP++ — the same wick swept 2 or 3 stacked swing levels at once. More liquidity was grabbed in a single move, which tends to produce a stronger and more sustained reversal.

HOW THE DETECTION WORKS
The indicator tracks the most recent swing highs and lows using pivot detection (configurable lookback, stored up to max_age days). Each closed bar is checked against all stored pivots:
The wick must exceed the pivot level by at least the minimum sweep size (ATR-based) to filter out micro-wicks that barely graze the level.
The close must reject back past the swept level with a minimum close position (top or bottom X% of the bar), filtering weak closes near the middle.
Optionally, the bar must have above-average volume — real stop hunts typically show a volume spike.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
An SFP is a liquidity event, not a reversal guarantee. Two conditions reduce its reliability significantly:
Trading against a strong trend. A bearish SFP in the middle of a powerful uptrend often produces only a brief pause before the move continues. The stop hunt happened, but the underlying demand is too strong to reverse. The HTF Trend Filter setting exists for this reason — enabling it filters SFPs that go against the higher timeframe EMA direction.
No supporting context at the level. An SFP that fires at a random mid-range price tends to fail more often than one that occurs at a meaningful confluence of levels — a weekly high, a significant VWAP, a well-established volume node, or a clean structural area that multiple timeframes agree on. The signal is the same but the odds are different. Using this indicator alongside tools that measure level significance will separate the high-quality setups from the noise.

SETTINGS
Pivot Detection
Intraday pivot bars — confirmation bars required on each side for intraday timeframes (1m to 4H). Default 8.
HTF pivot bars — confirmation bars for Daily and above. Default 3. Kept lower because daily swings are structurally significant with less confirmation needed.
Max pivots stored — how many recent swing levels are tracked per side. Default 5.
Max pivot age (days) — levels older than this are expired. Default 20.
Filters
Min sweep size — wick must exceed the level by at least this ATR multiple.
Min close position % — for bullish SFP, close must be in the top X% of the bar. For bearish, the bottom X%.
Volume confirmation — optionally require above-average volume on the SFP bar.
HTF Trend Filter

Optionally restrict signals to the London open and NY open windows (UTC hours, fully configurable). SFPs during these windows tend to be institutionally driven rather than low-liquidity noise.
Retest Tracking
After an SFP fires, the swept level is stored. If price later returns to that level and holds, a small R label marks the retest candle. The retest is often a cleaner entry than the SFP candle itself.

How the zones are built
When a swing high is confirmed, the script uses the area between the pivot candle body top and the candle high to create an upper liquidity zone. When a swing low is confirmed, the script uses the area between the pivot candle body bottom and the candle low to create a lower liquidity zone.
The result is a visual map of swing wick areas that traders can review later when price returns to previous highs, previous lows, rejection areas, or important structure points.
Swing confirmation
The script uses pivot logic. A swing is confirmed only after the required number of candles has closed on the right side of the pivot.
Because of this, zones appear after confirmation and are plotted back on the pivot candle for visual clarity. This is normal behavior for pivot-based tools and helps avoid marking swings before they are confirmed.
Clean swing filter
The optional clean swing filter helps reduce noise by keeping a more structured sequence of swings.
If several swing highs appear before a swing low is confirmed, the script keeps the highest swing high. If several swing lows appear before a swing high is confirmed, the script keeps the lowest swing low.
The filter can also use minimum bar spacing and ATR-based distance, so very small structure changes are less likely to clutter the chart.
Zone tracking
After a zone is created, it extends to the right as new candles form. When price trades back into a zone, the script adjusts the zone to show which part has already been traded through and which part remains unfilled.
Filled areas can be hidden for a cleaner view or displayed separately, depending on the user settings.
Estimated wick value
The script can show an estimated wick value for each zone.
This estimate is calculated from candle volume, wick size relative to the candle range, and the approximate midpoint price of the wick. It is intended only as a relative comparison between zones.
A larger wick with higher candle volume may display a larger value than a smaller wick with lower volume. The value should not be treated as an exact measurement of real market liquidity or available orders.
How to use it
Swing Liquidity Zones is best used as a visual structure and planning tool.
Traders may compare the zones with higher timeframe direction, support and resistance, session highs and lows, VWAP, volume behavior, candle closes, market structure shifts, fair value gaps, order blocks, trend context, and invalidation levels.
A zone by itself is not a trade signal. It is an area of interest that should be reviewed together with a complete trading plan and independent confirmation.

Bias Determination
We need to filter out the numerous SFPs that occur across all time frames. Our first strong filter will be the Bias. We will only look for trades aligned with our bias.
We will use Periodic SAR (Stop and Reverse) to determine the bias. We compare the price with the SAR value from a Higher Time Frame than the one we are trading on.
• Price > SAR => Bullish Bias
• Price < SAR => Bearish Bias
Depending on the pair, H1 SAR may be chosen for scalp trades, and Daily/Weekly SAR for intraday and swing trades.
Key Levels
Strategies looking for trades after a liquidity grab generally state that the sweep / stop hunt movement should occur at a significant price level.
The most fundamental Key Level levels are (User can customize):
• Previous Week High & Low
• Previous Day High & Low
• Previous H4 High & Low
• Previous H1 High & Low
• Asia Killzone High & Low
• London Killzone High & Low

Blocks / Zones
To strengthen our hand, we will use three types of blocks/zones, either with Key Levels or separately. When an SFP structure is formed in these areas (along with bias and breakout confirmation), our expectation is for the price to continue in our desired direction. These regions are:
1. Mitigation Blocks (Mtg)

o In short: A second candle, following a bullish candle, crosses its high but fails to close above it. We call this a sweep / SFP. When the price, which was expected to go to the low, instead makes a new high/close, an Mtg block is formed. (Buyers are dominant)
2. FVGs (Fair Value Gaps)
o We use classic FVG structures.
3. Standard Deviation Projection Boxes
o When we get an SFP structure + breakout confirmation (CISD), we use the Standard Deviation Projection to determine our profit-taking and take-profit levels.
o Based on the idea that the price often respects the range between -2 and -2.5 of the projection values, we box this range and use it as our area of interest. (Our expectation is for the price to reverse after reaching this target).
o Let's mark it on the chart.
Confirmation
To summarize what has been explained so far: we look for the price to form an SFP structure in levels/zones we deem important, aligned with our bias, and for the breakout to be confirmed with a CISD.
No single component is strong on its own, but the success rate increases when they occur together.
We observe the following as additional confirmation along with the CISD: a new Mtg block forming in the direction of the breakout, high-volume movement (with FVG and a large body), and respect for VWAPs, the resistance/support line, and the defense block.

Indicator Signals
The indicator marks all formed sweeps, selected key levels, blocks, the projection, and CISD confirmations on the screen. The candle where the CISD confirmation occurs is indicated by an arrow.
• Arrows with double short lines signify a CISD that follows an SFP occurring at a Key Level.
• All other CISD candle indications are shown with single-line arrows.
Trade Management
When selecting profit targets in trades (preferably), the projection, opposing blocks, and structures that have formed are taken into account. Do not neglect to look at the structures that have formed against you when entering a trade.
Menu Settings:
• For Mtg blocks, the trading timeframe or a higher timeframe can be selected.
• FVGs formed in the current timeframe are displayed when the price creates an SFP (in "Fvg" option).
• Deviation boxes are displayed when the price creates an SFP (in box).
• The SAR HTF setting (H1) for scalp trades may vary depending on the pair. Users trying trades on higher timeframes should increase the HTF setting.
o Example: If you are looking for a trade with an SFP structure on H1, the SAR HTF setting should be H4 or higher.
• VWAP lines are refreshed starting from the candle that executed the sweep when the price forms an SFP. The only setting to adjust is the source selection setting (hlc3 is selected).
• Time frames and Killzone / Special Zone settings for Key Levels can be changed/should be checked.
Alarms / Alerts:
The conditions that will trigger an alert can be selected from the menu.
• To receive an alert aligned with the bias, the "Alignment with bias" checkbox must be selected.
• The alert should be set on the timeframe where you plan to enter the trade.
• The display options do not affect the alarm conditions. (Example: FVGs are monitored even when the menu selection is "off").
• If the necessary conditions are met, the alarm is triggered on the new candle that opens after the CISD confirmation.
• The alarm will not be triggered more than once at the same Key Level.

Structural Liquidity Signals shows where price likely tapped liquidity (stop clusters), then waits for structure to actually change before it prints a trigger. It spots:
Liquidity sweeps (SFPs) at recent pivots and at prior day/week highs/lows.
The latest Fair Value Gap (FVG) that often “pulls” price or serves as a reaction zone.
How far price is stretched from two VWAP anchors (one from the latest impulse, one from today’s session), scaled by ATR so it adapts to volatility.
A “percentile” extreme of an internal score. At extremes the script “arms” a setup; it only triggers after a small break of structure (BOS) on a closed bar.
Originality and design rationale, why it’s not “just a mashup”
This is not a mashup for its own sake. It’s a purpose-built flow that links where liquidity is likely to rest with how structure actually changes:
- Liquidity location: We focus on areas where stops commonly cluster—recent pivots and prior day/week highs/lows—then detect sweeps (SFPs) when price wicks beyond and closes back inside.
- Displacement context: We track the last Fair Value Gap (FVG) to account for recent inefficiency that often acts as a magnet or reaction zone.
- Stretch measurement: We anchor VWAP to the latest N-bar impulse and to the Daily session, then normalize stretch by ATR to assess dislocation consistently across assets/timeframes.
- Composite exhaustion: We combine stretch, wick skew, and volume surprise, then bend the result with a tanh transform so extremes are bounded and comparable.
- Dynamic extremes and discipline: Rather than triggering on every sweep, we “arm” at statistical extremes via percent-rank and only fire after a confirmed micro Break of Structure (BOS). This separates “interesting” from “actionable.”
Key concepts
SFP (liquidity sweep): A candle briefly trades beyond a level (where stops sit) and closes back inside. We detect these at:
Pivots (recent swing highs/lows confirmed by “left/right” bars).
Prior Day/Week High/Low (PDH/PDL/PWH/PWL).
FVG (Fair Value Gap): A small 3‑bar gap (bar2 high vs bar1 low, or vice versa). The latest gap often acts like a magnet or reaction zone. We track the most recent Up/Down gap and whether price is inside it.
AVWAP stretch: Distance from an Anchored VWAP divided by ATR (volatility). We use:
Impulse AVWAP: resets on each new N‑bar high/low.
Daily AVWAP: resets each new session.
PR (Percentile Rank): Where the current internal score sits versus its own recent history (0..100). We arm shorts at high PR, longs at low PR.
Micro BOS: A small break of the recent high (for longs) or low (for shorts). This is the “go/no‑go” confirmation.
How the parts work together

This indicator shows Swing Failure Points (SFP) and Swing Confirmation Points (SCP) as candles on a chart.
SFP/SCP candles are used by traders as signals for trend confirmation/possible reversal.
The signal is stronger on a higher volume/larger candle size.
A Swing Failure Point (SFP) candle is used to spot a reversal:
- up trend SFP is a failure to close above prev high after making a new higher high => implies reversal down
- down trend SFP is a failure to close below prev low after making a new lower low => implies reversal up
A Swing Confirmation Point (SCP) candle is just the opposite and is used to confirm the current trend:
- up trend SCP is a successful close above prev high after making a new higher high => confirms the trend and implies continuation up
- down trend SCP is a successful close below prev low after making a new lower low => confirms the trend and implies continuation down

- when in doubt use show/hide pivots/unconfirmed pivots, min/max pivot bands to see which prev pivot and min/max value were used in comparisons to generate a signal on the following candle.

Notes:
Fractal Pivots:
- SFP/SCP candles depend on fractal pivots, you will get different signals with different pivot settings. Usually 4,4 or 2,2 settings are used to produce fractal pivots, but you can try custom values that fit your data best.
- fractal pivots are a mixed series of highs and lows in no particular order. Pivots must be filtered to produce a proper zigzag where ideally a high is followed by a low and another high in orderly fashion.
Fractal Lag/False Signals:
- only past fractal pivots can be processed on the current bar introducing a lag, therefore, pivots and min/max pivot bands are shown with offset=-rightBars to match their target bars. For unconfirmed pivots an offset=-1 is used with a lag of just 1 bar.
- new pivot is not a confirmed fractal and "does not exist yet" while the distance between it and the current bar is < rightBars => prev old fractal pivot in the same dir is used for comparisons => gives a false signal for that dir
- to show false signals enable lag zones. SFP/SCP candles in lag zones are false. New pivots will be eventually confirmed, but meanwhile you get a false signal because prev pivot in the same dir was used instead.
- to solve this problem you can either temporary hide false signals or completely eliminate them by using unconfirmed pivots of a smaller degree/lag.
- hiding false signals only works for history and should be used only temporary (left disabled). In realtime/replay mode it disables all signals altogether due to PulseWire's bug (barcolor doesn't support negative offsets)

- you have 2 methods to check for unconfirmed pivots: highest/lowest(rightBars) or fractals(1,1) with a min possible step. The first is essentially fractals(0,0) where each candle is a pivot. Both produce more frequent pivots (weaker signals).
- an unconfirmed pivot is used in comparisons to generate a valid signal only when it is a higher high (> max high) or a lower low (< min low) in the dir of a trend. Confirmed pivots of a higher degree are not affected. Zigzag is not affected.
- you can also manually disable the offset to check on which bar the pivot was confirmed. If the pivot just before an SCP/SFP suddenly jumps ahead of it - prev pivot was used, generating a false signal.
- last max high/min low bands can be used to check which value was used in candle comparison to generate a signal: min(pivot min_low, upivot min_low) and max(pivot max_high, upivot max_high) are used
- in the unconfirmed pivots mode the max high/min low pivot bands partially break because you can't have a variable offset to match the random pos of an unconfirmed pivot (anywhere in 0..rightBars from the current bar) to its target bar.
- in the unconfirmed pivots mode h (green) and l (red) pivots become H and L, and h (lime) and l (fuchsia) are used to show unconfirmed pivots of a smaller degree. Some of them will be confirmed later as H and L pivots of a higher degree.
Pivot Filter:
- pivot filter is used to produce a better looking zigzag. Essentially it keeps only higher highs/lower lows in the trend direction until it changes, skipping:
- after a new high: all subsequent lower highs until a new low
- after a new low: all subsequent higher lows until a new high
- you can't filter out all prev highs/lows to keep just the last min/max pivots of the current swing because they were already confirmed as pivots and you can't delete/change history
- alternatively you could just pick the first high following a low and the first low following a high in a sequence and ignore the rest of the pivots in the same dir, producing a crude looking zigzag where obvious max high/min lows are ignored.
- pivot filter affects SCP/SFP signals because it skips some pivots
- pivot filter is not applied to/not affected by the unconfirmed pivots
- zigzag is affected by pivot filter, but not by the unconfirmed pivots. You can't have both high/low on the same bar in a zigzag. High has priority over Low.
- keep same bar pivots option lets you choose which pivots to keep when there are both high/low pivots on the same bar (both kept by default)
SCP/SFP Filters:
- you can confirm/filter only SCP/SFP signals with volume % change/candle size larger than delta. Higher volume/larger candle means stronger signal.
- technically SCP/SFP is always the first matching candle, but it can be invalidated by the following signal in the opposite dir which in turn can be negated by the next signal.
- show first matching SCP/SFP = true - shows only the first signal candle (and any invalidations that follow) and hides further duplicate signals in the same dir, does not highlight the trend.
- show first matching SCP/SFP = false - produces a sequence of candles with duplicate signals, highlights the whole trend until its dir changes (new pivot).
